Junita, Please comnsider easing into this. By your description, your new system is extremely powerful and has an abundance of available rsources. Could it be that your haste and concern in paring all your targets is a byproduct of your previous system? I personally tended to act that way when I purchased the new one. I haven't read any reports of great concern with the Vista firewall. It is bi-directional and apparently works adequately. I left my Windows Defender enabled and update it regularly. Again from what I read it performs more than adequately. With a new quad core system resources and power are more than plentiful to run it in the background. I took Norton off the first day. Update: 1. Original router Dl-524 on XP was dying, then died. 2. XP machine now functioning as wireless with new router (D-Link WBR-2310 -- it was cheap because store running a special!). Set it up during 2-hour phone call to ISP (Verizon) and done manually -- he wanted to bypass the CD w/router even though the package said "use CD first." 3. Used Recovery Partition pre-installed on Vista machine. But when restart, still same 3 messages as before: a. apsInitialize b. apsGetInterfaceCount c. WLAN Monitor stopped 4. Google searches with the above (a, b, & c) gathered pages and pages of hits, some helpful some not. Many lead to dead-end in forums closed to outsiders -- a subscribe-here type. But all summaries were related to errors appearing after person installed, or attempted to install, a D-Link router Bottom line: Because using the Recovery Partition didn't get rid of the error messages, I wonder if I need to swap existing Vista for different Vista (but same model). I'm going to stop by store on way home from office to ask them. I hope original salesman is there as he is knowledgeable, the store guru, and has helped me before. Any thoughts?

Ri included the top one with the tile. I’m not sure what caused the darkening the wood but we didn’t have a rug in the hall. Snow could have melted there. The second one is in the shade. There isn’t as much of a color difference as what is shown. The third one was the only sunny patch that was left. Considering how filthy the floor is, it hides dirt and dog hair really well. We had to have engineered wood since we’re on the water. It was installed all over except for the front hall, laundry room and bathrooms. There is radiant heat under the first floor. Hope this helps.
