I see you have a lot of outside corners in your bathroom - how did you handle those? It looks like the chair rail tiles were mitered, and maybe even the natural travertine? But what did you do on the porcelain tiles?

"outside corners in your bathroom - how did you handle those?"...I didn't. DH did all the work. I just supplied ice-tea (g) I just looked. It looks like all the tiles were mitered except the blue glass tiles. They all have the angular
cut edge look. I could be totally wrong. I'll ask my husband tomorrow.
valerieann, THANKS! That "little one" has a brand new baby sister now :) The vanity was built by a local cabinet man and my painter worked with me till he came up with the exact stain color I wanted.
I'm VERY pleased with my Toto Ultramax AND the Toto Washlet seat. After 8 months I'm still amazed at the powerful, quick and complete flush. I'm pleased with the height of the toilet. It's a regular height but a bit taller than my old regular height. The Washlet is probably my favorite thing in the new bathroom.

Thanks, Monica - I'd appreciate any tips your husband can pass on. My contractor has said he doesn't really like mitering the edges - he thinks they come out too sharp (not sure if that's a technical or aesthetic issue for him), so I'd love to hear how your husband handled it.

I don't have a travertine bathroom yet (that I can find pictures of) but I'll have one hopefully in a couple of weeks!

Here's a few with our stone-look porcelain, including the shower before and after the glass went in.

(FWIW, our GC had redone his own bathroom shortly before ours, using natural stone. After doing ours, he said he wished he'd done his in porcelain like we did.)

That bathroom was totally impressive and I was totally jealous. My bathroom is 7x9 or something like that.

The way they designed that glass wall above the tub with the shower behind it is so cool.

Callaloo, that looks beautiful! Can you tell us what tile it is? Also, the mosaic you used for the border and shower floor - I love it! What is that? I love how the color ties in with the color of your vanity!

charlikin, thanks! All of my tiles are Casa Dolce Casa porcelain. The wall and floor tiles are Pietra Aurinia (6x6 and 12x12), while the mosaic floor and accent tiles are Flagstone Mosaic in Beige (2x2). The gecko tile is a one-off that I fell in love with at the tile store. (I love lizard motifs, and geckos are supposed to be good luck. Who am I to disagree?)

charlikin, all of the outside corners in my shower were done with bullnose tiles from the same collection. That pretty neatly solves the problem. (I should also note that the sills and curb are not tile, but botticino marble).

charlikin, sorry I'm so long getting back to you about the mitered corners. Yes, the porcelain wall tiles are also mitered. I didn't realize the "big deal" about mitered corners and think I hurt DH's feelings when he proudly showed them to me and I didn't react accordingly :o Apparently it's more work but we think it looks so much better/cleaner.

Monica, please tell your husband I am a great fan of his work. His tiling looks fantastic - those corners are just perfect! He's obviously got a great deal of skill and talent. (Try not to swell his head *too* much... ;-))

Wow, now I've got to decide whether to use bullnose at the corners or just miter them... (The bullnose is expensive, but I bet the miter labor is too.)
