Show me your hex-tile floors and tell me your grout color please!
Comments (8)Hi Bill, I have seen mention of this Mapei on other threads and did a google search and came up with a lot of foreign-language links. Who makes it? Or better yet, can you give me a link to a website? (Also, I sent you an email - did you get it? I noticed another tile installation disaster today. Our Master Bath floor has been covered for protection until today when part of it was exposed while the double vanity was installed. The large 16" square honed Calcutta Gold tiles are not centered on any of the walls, so there are really off grout lines at the center of the vanity. It is really obvious and when I think about it I literally want to cry :( . This is our forever house and everywhere I turn, a tile job is done badly. I could really use a good referal!)...See MoreShow me pics of Crossville Palais or marble looking porcelain
Comments (3)avignon-- If you're looking into rectified porcelain (In Crossville, that would be their Empire Series), you want a tight grout joint-- standard is 1/16". As for the others, I'll tell you right now-- Porcelanosa will be more expensive. ALOT more expensive. They're one of the top shelf manufacturers in the world. As for Laufen, that you might find for a good price. Here's a shower I did with their travertine lookalike rectified tile: One other thing to think about. I don't know just how close you want to be, but the tile in the next picture is a very run of the mill stock tile from Daltile. It's not even porcelain-- just a standard glazed ceramic tile, which means you'd need to use a larger grout joint (I usually use a 3/16" joint with this tile)but for glazed tile, it's one of the best travertine lookalikes I've seen yet. In fact, I liked it SO much, that I used the 18x18 version in my own bath in the apartment I just moved out of (otherwise, I'd show you pics!): That's Daltile's Salerno Series SL83...See MoreSource for porcelain tile that looks like limestone or travertine
Comments (13)newkitchen10 - I don't want to hijack storklady's flooring thread, so I'll send you an email with a few more pics and some details. The picture posted here was not a 'finished' picture, but it showed more of the floor. But, yes, we love our banquette! There are some really pretty floors posted here...I especially love allison0704's floor. We had put ours in 5 1/2 years BEFORE we redid the kitchen, and since it went through the entry, breakfast, office area, family room and dining room, we kept it and just filled in where our cabinet footprint changed. Luckily, the tile store where we bought it could still get it. A very nice man from the store drove 2 hours to the distributor and went in and hand-picked tiles that matched one of my extras from 5 years before! AND he did it TWICE, because our contractor changed his mind and thought we might need 2 more boxes! Amazingly helpful....See Moredark cabinet people, please show me your porcelain or tile floors
Comments (10)I really love all the pics since I am doing a lighter Porcelain Tile in my kitchen and wanting to stain my 18.5 year old oak kitchen cabinets a deeper cherry color. Since the room is open to the family room and my glass end tables and coffee table has cherry legs, I think this would go nice. I love my kitchen table and it appears to be a cherry stain but more on the brown side wiht a hint of red. Lmarletto, I also love your beautiful tile (or it is slate?) with your kitchen. So many great ideas! Buehl, lmarletto, gibby3000, the way you have your tiles laid out are giving me new ideas. Laurie2008, your tile is so similar to mine and looks great the way it is laid on the floor. I am now confused and I guess I will have to lay the tile down and then decide what pattern will look best in my foyers and in my kitchen. chinchette, what wood species and stain are your beautiful cabinets that flow so well with your gorgeous Brazilian Cherry floors in your other rooms....See Morejanealexa
