What Do You Think of This Idea

Recently while some of us were chatting over on my Garden Junk Forum, a thread started where a couple of the gals posted photos of themselves. And one gal commented how she wished we had a "family album" for the members, as it was so great to actually put faces to names and SEE one another.

I definitely agreed with that.

Well, you know me and photos and albums! LOL

I immediately set us up a family one and folks are posting photos of themselves (and even spouses) to share. Its been a big hit. I'd sure love to see my friends HERE too!

Would any of you be interested in sharing a picture of yourself (with or without a loved one), and to have a Holidays Family Album?

I have no problem with having one - A couple years back we had a rather long thread on the WinterSow Forum on the Garden side where we all posted pictures of ourselves. I don't remember if we ever did set up a formal album but I think it is a great idea - count me in if one gets started ....

I do this every year with my window boxes and other large containers. Cover them in different ways. 1. Used large piece of plastic, stuck dry cleaner hangers (without the cardboard) in the soil to hold the plastic up. Used clothespins to secure the plastic to the window box. I remember seeing photos of pots with water bottles used to keep the plastic up. 2. Covered separate areas of the pot with individual 2L tops (bottoms cut off). This was great for using with seeds that have different germination times. 3. For containers that are still small enough to pick up easily I put them into a large clear plastic bag.

Gardengirl: what a great idea. We have 2 solatubes in our craftsman home, and I often wondered about adding some Arts and Crafts element to it. Would love to see pics of your project if you do it. I'm not sure what the supporting structure is for the glass. That might be a limitation on the weight.

sashamommy - thanks - challenge probably, but hoping less so than finding one that fits size wise and we like the style of too. Been 3 years of searching now. We found one, but it was discontinued. Deb - Yeah still haven't done anything with it. DH wants it out of the garage so I figure once I have closed on this idea I'll pitch it to him. He's not huge on a white bed though. We have black framed art/photographs on all the walls in the bedroom and the master bath has black framed mirrors and some accessories. Hence my thought of black. I'm all for white though on any furniture. work_in_progress - the bed is in the only spot where it will fit. Do you think a whitish creamy color would go with the description above for Deb. We have no other white except the trim, WT, and white sheets. I do have a white on white duvet too. Also will be a tougher sell for DH. palimpsest - Thanks for the vote of confidence that the additional styling I added would work out. You are right though on the muted greyed colors. The other ones tend to be natural pine (not a likely option due to matching of woods and hard to strip existing) or white. I don't feel I necessarily need to stick to traditional swedish since I'm modifying it anyways, but would be nice if I could, although I can't see them as neutral. Gray would be neutral, but not really go with anything else in the room. Here is another direction, and some of the photographs to the left of the bed too.

Could I do a darker bamboo mounted at the ceiling with stationary panels on the outside of the window? Stationary panels and a bamboo blind would look great, IMO. As for placement, normally the blind is mounted on the window frame, and the rod from which the stationary panels hang is somewhere above that, often as far up as the ceiling. The inside edges of the stationary panels normally cover the window frame and the edges of the blind. There are variations, of course, but you want a visual connection among the three elements - the window, the blind and the panels. Mounting the blind above the frame would keep more of the window exposed when the blind is open and make the window appear taller. But I don't think you need to mount at the ceiling to accomplish this. If you mount the blind above the frame, you will probably need to pull the header away from the wall the depth of the frame so that the blind falls smoothly.

I love having faces to go with the hearts that we have already shared through good times and bad. Just say when and where.

ok - here is my wedding picture from 3 1/2 years ago - haven't changed much

me (in purple), husband, my mother and my two wonderful kids - my daughter was my maid of honor and my son gave me away - yes it was a very informal wedding in my backyard with a pig-pickin' afterwards ......

Lynne, congrats on your fairly recent wedding. So nice that your family could share your joy with you--especially your Mom. Purple is a great color on you and your new hubby looks really happy too. Now you've made me hungry for some good barbecued pork! ;o)

I love being able to put faces with names!

This is my family: the 17-year-old Nick, myself, the 11-year-old Josh, my husband Steve and our 15-year-old Alli. This was 2 years ago, so the kids have grown a bit.

Oh Gosh, I'm just so THRILLED at the response. And can't tell you how GREAT it is to SEE all of you. I'm loving this. Hope the rest of our Group will get in the album.

Dream.....I actually thought about just putting a photo of Steve and I hmmmmm....just a few years back...because frankly, I am positive that the cameras are just faulty! I don't look like that when I look in the mirror.....I still look like I did 20 years ago! OMG....I just said 20 years ago....

Alex, are you sure that is a current picture? You look so much younger than I imagined you. How in the world did you collect all those decorations when you are so young????

Lacombe, you are just beaming in that pic. Looks like you were really having fun that day. Nice to meet you and I love having all the Canadians joining in.

Luvs....yep, that was just 2 years ago. We started young, we were only 20...so we've been married almost 18 years.

As for how in the world I've collected all the decorations...there's a method to my madness, but I think that would have to be it's own thread! :) I would be happy to share, if you all are interested.

Shee....I just have to go back and look at your smile....just makes me smile!

Bourb, I'm definitely interested in hearing about the deco collecting you've done.

As for being leery of posting photos, considering how many are out there on the net of folks and their families, etc, I don't think there's anything to really worry about. And if the "bad guys" want to find something about someone, seems they can manage no matter what. I think its wise to take care when posting little kids pictures in some cases, but just a case of judgement as to which ones shouldn't be shared in public.

I really hope everyone here is interested in our album and being in it. I sure do love SEEING my Invisible Friends finally.
