Please help with paint color (photos) - xposted with HD

We are in mid-renovation, and I have decided that I don't like the paint color. The shower area is tiled in off-white, with a beige detail strip (shown before grouting):

The floor and shower floor are Durango limestone. I had the walls painted BM Everlasting, a great color - same strip as the popular Stone House, but I don't like it here. The room looks blah. The floor and walls look like they are the same color (this does not come through in the photos). This is a good photo of the walls:

At the suggestion of kgwlisa, I looked for paint in the color of the deepest part of the deco tiles. I came up with BM Acorn Yellow. Here is a large sample in the bathroom; I think it is too dark:

I went back and got samples of Yellow Squash, the next lighter color in the Acorn Yellow strip, and Squire Hill Buff, similar but more taupe-y (but not as taupe-y as Everlasting). Here they all are, from left to right, Yellow Squash, Acorn Yellow, Squire Hill Buff, with Everlasting on the walls:

I would appreciate advice! The toilet and sink will be white, and the hardware polished nickel.

I like the right. The left pulls out the darker in the decorative and the right pulls the undertone. I see more tan in the right one and peach in the left. Both will work.

I like the dark one for the sake of contrast. The other colors are monochromatic and blend too much with the tiles. OTOH, I'm not a big fan of too much tasteful/blah beige, so disregard my opinion if you don't like it :)

Hi there, I'm a regular on the Kitchens forum but it's my first visit over here. I've taken a hiatus on the kitchen (need a break!) and have been working on our living room. Our style of decorating is a loosely-interpreted British Colonial. We have a little more color than is normal - a Turkish kilim on the floor, a moss green wing chair. We've decided on a wall color - BM Audubon Russet - and a trim color - SW Toasted Marshmallow. However, I'm stuck on a ceiling color. Any suggestions? I wish I could post photos, but the room is torn up right now. TIA!!!

Mclarke, I can try but no photo conveys the real shade of the colors, especailly when taken in daylight. By "old brick" I mean that it is not as bright and red as new brick but rather a combination of "subdued" rose, pale burgundy and "grayish" cream. I do not expect anyone to find "the color" for me (as it would be impossible) but looking for some candidates to choose from. Benjamin Moore Tudor Brown was one of my potential "picks" but not quite perfect for some reason (too much red?) Thank you!

Thank you all so much! That gives me more to think about. Those are not the only available roof colors, just the ones we liked the best. We would be willing to consider others if it would make a big difference. http://sheffieldmetals.com/Products/CoolR.aspx#1374184-color-chart newhomebuilder -- we're in a neighborhood setting, the "poles" in the sketch above mark tree locations. lazydaisynot -- someone on the building forum also pointed me to a photo of that house, I really like it! My husband thinks anything that is not "neutral" is too "out there" but I am working on him. After all, red is practically brown, and blue is practically gray, right? (Told you I was lousy at colors) funcolors -- thank you! I'd like to do something with a touch of color if possible. The Graphite and Stone Grey both seem to be bluish on the actual samples. On a standalone basis, I think the Stone Grey is our compromise favorite (blue enough for me and gray enough for my husband), but it probably is too close to the roof color. I was telling the folks over on building that we have no consensus among the family or professionals. Architect says if we can manage the extra $$$, to go with Preweathered Galvalume roof and Chesapeake Blue windows. Builder suggests any roof and Midnight Bronze windows. My husband wants anything "white, black, brown or gray." My mom, who is living with us, likes any roof and Cranberry. My dad, who also is living with us, likes the Galvalume and Linen/Country Road. Personally, in no particular order I like all of the 3 roof colors, and window colors Country Road, Kodiak, Cranberry, Graphite, Stone Grey and Woodland Green :-P (that's the problem) I was kind of hoping there would be some obvious choice but I guess not (I saw the other thread on black vs white windows and feel better that I am not the only one who can't decide). I think I will go get some colored pencils and start mocking up the elevations. Or is there a better way to go about this?

Thank you both for the advice! I'm now leaning toward the dark color. There were quite a few votes for it on the HD forum. I'll keep looking at them today as the light changes.

Here I am again, with more samples! I ran out of time before vacation, now I'm back and really have to make this decision. Someone on the HD forum posted a photo of SW Bagel, which I loved. I got samples of Bagel, as well as the two darker colors on the strip, because Bagel was looking light to me.

Here are, from left to right, SW Bagel, SW Totally Tan, SW Tatami Tan (on floor), BM Acorn Yellow. The walls are BM Everlasting:

Here's a closeup of the three SW colors with one of the detail tiles:

I did not do two coats of the SW colors - I'm really running out of steam here.

Your thoughts?

Too many choices, eh??? My bathroom is covered with paint samples, as well, so I can empathize.
I really really like the Yellow Squash you picked. It's a "warm" color, which I think adds a nice dimension with all of the cool tones (and a few warm, as well) in the tiles/trim, white fixtures, polished nickel hardware, etc. Another possibility would be three walls in one color and another in a darker tone--e.g., the wall behind the vanity/mirror...just to complicate matters!

denalidreams, do you like the Yellow Squash (pale color on left of photos from first post) or the Acorn Yellow (darker shade in center, that I was leaning toward before bringing in the SW samples)? The Yellow Squash is looking too pink to me these days.

Different colors on different walls? My head might explode!

oh, my--now that you mention it, there is a pinky-peach tint in the Yellow Squash...
so, I'm voting for SW Bagel (maybe with cream cheese trim???)

I think you are right and bagel it is!!!! Especially since you are looking at it in the room, in real life. On my monitor it looks great as well.:)
