Dell printer V515W Not Communicating W/ Computer

After I put in two new ink cartridges the printer stopped communicating with the computer. I tried following the instructions pulling the plug, restarting etc. to no avail. I also tried the Dell Support site but cannot figure it out. If you can help I need simple instructions if possible as I only use the computer for emails and to google. Thanks very much. If it matters I have Windows 7 and a fairly new Dell computer.

How is the printer connected to your computer? Wireless or USB connection?

I thought problem was solved as all of a sudden it started printing while I in another room?? Didn't use for a few days now when I try to print - just blank pages are printing. Printer is Dell V515w. When I hit print on the computer it indicates Dell V310 Series USB - which is highlighted. Under that Dell V310 - V510 Series.I hit print - then just blanks. I apologize again for my lack of knowledge. Thank you.

my jaw just dropped because uninstalling and reinstalling the printer is infinitely easier than deleting a spooled print job :-) go into your Printers and Faxes or Printers and Devices folder, right click the printer and choose delete (XP) or Remove Device (7 and 8). Unplug the USB cable and restart Windows. Plug the printer back into the computer and follow the installation wizard. If prompted to pop in the driver installation disk, do so.

These days, a printer is almost a disposable item. You can sometimes get a new printer cheaper than the cost of 2 ink cartridges. The downside of your situation is that you don't know if the printer you buy today will be compatible with Win8 when it is released. When Win8 is released, printers that are compatible with it probably won't be discounted much...if at all. I have an HP Officejet 4500 which does an ok job of print-copy-scan-fax and is available in both wired and wireless. It does not tolerate off-brand ink cartridges but it does work well. It might be okay to get you to the day when you get a Win8 computer and a printer that works with it.

How is the printer connected USB or wifi ? Will it print a test page; 1 Open the Dell Printer Home by clicking or Start, All Programs, Dell Printers, then click Dell Printer Home. 2 In Dell Printer Home, make sure the correct printer model appears in the pulldown window at the top. 3 Click the Maintenance Tab and click Print Test Page.

I've been reading about this printer on the Dell Forums and it sounds like this Dell Printer has random problems mainly with Dell Computers! Have you tried using the Printer while connected with a USB or RJ45 Cable, which ever it may have? I think I'd wire it up to see what results you get then, If it works with being wired we may need to look at the Wireless Setup/Router Settings!

Zev, Didn't work.

When the print screen comes up - says printer is ready - hit print and nothing.

It's as if there is no connection.

If I hit start on the printer - it prints a blank page.

I think I might try re-installing the printer and see if that fixes the problem. Did you recheck all your connections to make sure that they are secure? Since I don't have a Dell printer, I cannot give you the steps to follow, but you should have a set-up folder or something similar that gives you the step by step directions. Sometimes the software gets corrupted and the best thing is a new install.
