As a plumber I cannot foresee any negatives to your plan, in fact, when your children attend school they will more than likely be confronted with wall mount sinks so there is no problem with wall mounts & children.... But having said that, I would caution you that you should either purchase your sink or at least contact the Mfg or your dealer and get a copy of the mounting instructions before you begin your bathroom remodel. Wall mount sinks have a flat horizontal steel hanger bracket that is bolted to the finished wall, then the ceramic sink fixture is hung on the bracket. During the remodel, while you have the walls opened up you will need to install some 2x6 or 2x8 horizontal blocking between the studs to allow a solid backing to bolt the hanger bracket to the wall.

I love my new casement windows. They are Marvin Ultimates. To the OP - I am wondering if the issue isn't the casement itself, but perhaps you had a poorly-made casement window. I replaced my old casement windows with new Marvin casements, and the improvement is like night and day. They crank open and closed with silky smoothness, they seal tightly when shut against winter cold, and have no rattling and no drafts. My casements crank open all the way so that the window is completely perpendicular to the frame. In other words, the window in not open a fraction of the space, it is 100% open and nothing is blocking breezes. Also, the crank has a setting so that you can open the casements so that the outside side turns in so that you can clean it (sorry I don't know how to word it, but I hope you get what I mean). Love that feature - with my old casements I had to look at dirt and bird droppings on the windows for months until I could get someone on a ladder to clean the outside of the windows. So don't be too hasty about not getting casements - it could be you just have to choose a good manufacturer and then you will like them. benjesbride , your layout looks nice. The back run of cabinets is about 22' plus another 12' for the island and 5' next to the fridge. Is that a lot of linear feet of cabinets? I like the idea of opening the dining room up and moving the entrance to the center at some point in time. Would love to do it right away, but I'm not sure what the rest is going to cost. Our window guy is stopping by tomorrow to give us a price on replacing the bay with other indows (double-hung, casement or sliders). I know the new bay would be almost $3,900 so I am hoping for a quote that is much less than that. I am also meeting with a KD tomorrow who, based upon our conversation, will most likely be proposing something like this photo. I am not sure what I think about it, but know that he has actual photos of other kitchens with a similar layout. What do you think? I still think the bay causes a problem.

it looks exactly like a prison sink! lol. it all depends on how far out you can come. imagine a curved countertop that follows the line in the back. then you could do a shallow depth square sink and under mount it. the sink itself wouldn't have to be bowed if you can come far enough off the wall you could even offset it and make the countertop more of a fiddle shape so that it won't impede the walkway. (if that makes sense)
