When I went looking for info about Icon Restore, what I found indicated that it is old software no longer being updated by it's creator and does not work reliably on a 64-bit system (your win 7 is probably 64-bit but your XP computer was not). I had to go back to IE (which I almost never use) to discover that it does not HIGHLIGHT a spelling error in a forum post. Firefox does, which is one of several reasons why I don't want or need a toolbar. I have never needed a toolbar in a browser...they take up space unnecessarily, are confusing and not all that reliable and in general just a big pain. You would do well to learn to live without one, in my opinion. I suspect that spell check is in the toolbar...you just haven't found it yet. When you say saving the address...I think you mean saving the address of a web page in Internet Explorer... then you should enable the MENU BAR and learn how to add-delete-organize web pages in your FAVORITES MENU. Thanks Deb. What I did was completely messed up. I backed up the file. Then when I tried to find it, it showed up inside an old file dated 12-4-07(backup 3-5-12) in My Documents. I clicked on it and QB said I had to restore it. I went to Restore a Backup file and got the message to 'rename' the file. I didn't know why or what that meant. Went back to the file, deleted the 12-4-07, which just left the words (backup 3-5-12). Then I renamed that New, and tried to restore it. Quickbooks kept opening an old file from 12-4-07. Can't find the backup file even though it is named backup 3-5-12 New. I don't know what to do. I might have deleted it. I thought system restore might get it back. Hi, everyone (ravencajun and Zep too. :) ) I meant to reply last evening but ran out of time. The other situation ravencajun is referring to was an extremely nasty rootkit. That does not appear to be the situation here. msjean, I suggest you reinstall System Restore. I checked the instructions presented at a number of sites but found the best information is at the site referenced below. Bert Kinney is a Microsoft MVP and a respected expert. His instructions are clear and the most complete. (Note, in particular that there are multiple locations provided for the needed i386 folder.) It appears that the easiest method is to type or paste the command shown in the instructions at Bert's site (rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf) into the Start/Run box and pressing enter. Since you have Service Pack 3 installed, you should have either the i386 folder or the C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder mentioned in the list Bert provided. You should log on to the Administrator account to perform this. B. You may need to show hidden folders: 1. Click Start > My Computer. 2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 3. Finally got to the computer after a long, busy day. Pouring rain didn't help, but thank God for the rain. Anyway, I believe I'll try the uninstall in Safe Mode, and I'll be very careful to make sure the vsutil.dll is actually a ZA file before removing it. Since I don't have the Zone Alarm icon in my taskbar, I'll go directly to Start>Programs>Zone Labs and start from there (in Safe Mode of course). I probably won't get to this until some time Saturday, but I'll post back with the results. And thanks to all who have offered help. By the way, with the help of Owbist, I think we know what my sound problem is. Not sure I can fix it, but it CAN be fixed. Look at the "Lost My Sound" thread for details.
