Resetting screen resolution

Hi,

Every time I turn my computer on, I have to reset my screen resolution and appearance. What is with that? I have Windows XP home edition. This is something that just started the other day... Aggravating to say the least..

I had a game that did that. Every time I exited the game my resolution was changed. Dumped the game and nary a problem. Did you download something recently or use something new on the computer?

I have downloaded a few photos, but nothing special..

Try setting your resolution at 1280 x 960 which is correct for a 4 x 3 ratio monitor. Not suggesting you are wrong at all but changing it then testing those 2 sites might answer your problem. You can always revert back if you wish.

Thank you Zep for your reply and suggestion. Yes, I sort of knew it was a connection problem in that it won't stay on power, and have actually had a repairman look at it, but he just said the power cord wasn't in tight enough to hold, and he didn't know how to fix that. He gave me the impression I could live with it until I got another laptop. Today is the first time I've had the problem with it dimming when connected to power. I'll arrange for it to go in on Monday, but I'll choose someone else. Thanks again, BarbB

Sorry, I should have added that any other games we have downloaded onto the laptop computer from computer game sites have worked fine on the default screen setting.

Harman P68 Error code Resolution

Great information for the pellet stove owners. Recently purchased and installed a Harman P68 pellet stove to replace the Englander unit that worked well for years. Hooked up the stove and ran it for the first time this season. It worked well but I smelled a bit of smoke so I sealed the exhaust with silicone. Now when I start it, within 10 seconds, the error code starts flashing 3 blinks. Looked in manual and it says the ESP needs attention. Removed the ESP probe and cleaned it. It was not dirty. It still flashes the 3 code and I've unplugged the unit multiple times to reset. Any ideas on what I can check next? Thanks in advance. Gregg

Another possibility can be that your hard drive is starting to fail. Often when that is beginning to happen settings get lost at start up. Look in the Event Viewer and see if any red X's (other than DCOM, not a problem) or yellow exclaimation points are shown. Then check the event code on google.

FYI: Games will reset resolution if you are low on RAM to prevent crashing. It wasn't the game, it needed more RAM than you had at the res you were playing at.

Had a guy come and he said it might be that my video card is going out... so he said he would get a new one for me... hope that works. I don't have any games downloaded... and I have tons of RAM.... and no Red x''s or exclamations points either.

Got another computer that I am haveing revamped a bit to get it up and running long enough to save up for a new computer...

Hope this one holds up...
