ISO snowman ideas

I'm going to give some baskets for Christmas gifts using a snowman theme. So far I've come up with Snowman Soup/snowman mug, Snowman Poop/poem, and possibly Snowball cookies. I'd love to have a few more quick, easy and fairly inexpensive snowman themed ideas. Can anyone give me some ideas? Thanks!

One thing they do here...(Fla) They buy the little black hat, carrot (nose) and some little black dot things (charcoal), etc. (you can get all in a craft store) Put all in a small bottle with water..you can add some glitter too. Call it a Fla Snowman...:-)
Can be made to be a "snow globe, of sorts, with a baby food jar.

I have also seen a post where folks put loads of things (nails, buttons, coins, seashells etc) in a big jar filled with sand...then give a list of the things and kids have to find all the different items (like an I Spy in a jar)...well, back to snowmen idea...you could do as I suggested with the elements in a small jar with sand, maybe a few seashells for the Fla Snowman..

I agree that you need a can opener and a decent knife, probably a spatula/turner and maybe a large spoon. Other than that, I'd make sure I had dish soap to wash dishes. With your electric skillet you probably don't even need a frying pan, although the cooking utensils I've encountered in the "kitchenettes" were uniformly abysmal. If you have one, instead of a Crock Pot, consider taking along a small Nesco Roaster. Mine is a 6 quart and it cost less than $50. It can be turned very low and used as a slow cooker, or turned up and used to make pulled pork, a pot roast, roast chicken, a mess of beans, lots of things. You can also use it for baking, it makes outstanding baked potatoes and sweet potatoes, stuffed acorn squash halves with sausage, even muffins. Just pre-heat, put the pan on the rack, replace the lid and bake it. Things don't brown as much as a regular oven, but it works just fine. With your diabetes diagnosis, I know you'll have to be even more careful. Many grocery stores now have salad bars where you can buy prepared vegetables like sliced peppers or broccoli florets, and some also have bags of things like butternut squash cubes and vegetable mixtures. Add a chicken breast and you could make a fast stir fry with some of that pre-made brown rice. Produce is often available by the piece instead of by packages, so you could pick up a squash or a couple of sweet potatoes, and salad comes in a bag now and even has the dressing with it sometimes. Hash is easy in an electric skillet too, a small bag of frozen hash brown cubes with onions added, some cooked deli type meat (lots of low salt options available now), cook and stir until done. Add some eggs and you have breakfast without the need for bread. Even better, bake a couple extra potatoes the night before and use those! Travelling with Dad was interesting as he was diabetic and had to eat regularly, but eventually we caught on, so it's doable. It takes more thought, but it'll all fall into place, I know. I know exactly the kind of sled you are talking about. If you wanted to you could still paint a single snowman, poinsettia, or a Christmas tree broken up across the front. Full bodied designs like those do look OK across a slat surface. It's just a matter of the look you want. If you don't want to do that, you can paint each slat with a different motif or all of them with the same - say little trees down one, little snowmen down another, etc. If I were painting motifs on the slats I would probably put little snowmen with snowflakes in between each one on a blue background, trees with Christmas balls between each one on a red background, or poinsettias with berries and/or holly leaves between each on a white background and in this case probably paint some edging lines in metallic gold around the sled, on the runners and maybe even on the poinsettias themselves. You could also paint all of the slats with a running holly & berry design which would look very nice. These are just a few ideas maybe someone else here will come up with some more.

Being near the ocean and with so much beautiful wood, that kitchen would look great capitalizing on a nature theme. Pebble backsplashes are casual and look great in the right setting. The blues and greens in this one would add color and pair nicely with a simple white or cream countertop.

Mary if you paint the trim in an accent color you'll have to use in throughout the house though you might find that too confining. You can't change it from room to room and not expect it to look like a circus. You can still have lots of color in your house with white walls. Don't paint yourself into a box.

Well, I'm not sure how it would look in a basket, but I just made some yardstick snowmen. A yardstick, 3 various sized styrofoam balls, buttons and paperclips, sticks from the yard, various scraps of cloth and felt. Better Homes & Gardens has a picture of one in the crafts section. $2+scraps+15minutes=great yard ornament gift. Maybe use a 12" ruler....

If I could, I'd give you some of the snow we're supposed to get this weekend! LOL. We're supposed to get about 7 inches. Brrrrr!!!!!!!!

check on the 'crafts & decoration forum 2'. They have a lot of post of snowmen made from paver bricks. You can buy the bricks at a home improvement store for under $1, paint with white paint, and add a hat and scarf.

I just made a cute little snowman out of wood shapes. I painted all the pcs. white--large circle for body, small circle for head, 4 ice cream spoons for arms and legs. Then I glued them together, small circle on top of large circle, centered at top. Glue on the arms in appropriate area on side of body. Glue legs in appropriate area at bottom of body. For a little added color I took metallic gold paint and just barely rubbed it on the sides of the pieces. Then I added a face with black paint pen. A carrot nose with toothpick dipped in orange paint. And a scarf made out of a plaid flannel shirt piece. Oh, yeah, and buttons down the front!

Turned out really cute.

Here's some more of the gag type gifts.

Snowman Litter

A jar, or whatnot, of Hot cocoa mix with the following directions attached.

Since the snowman is a "productive" critter,
It helps to have the proper litter.
Poop is a thing that should not be kept,
Nor something under the rug to be swept. (how inept!)

To dispose of the poop you need to consider
Using this high tech Snowman Litter.
But should you not use the proper mix,
You'll undoubtably find yourself in a fix.

Tis best done by putting this stuff in a mug
Be careful and don't drop poop on the rug.
Add poop to the cup, and pour in a slug,
Of hot melted snowman right into that mug.
The poop disappears (oh hear the wild cheers)
Merry Christmas to all and a Very Happy New Year.
