How do you clean glass shower door

Specifically, at the bottom where the glass meets the tile and around the brackets/hardware that hold the glass....those areas get gunked up and have mold. I have tried scrubbing with a toothbrush to no avail...it is such a small,tight area to get to. Thanks for any suggestions.

First off, you should squeegee the shower glass after the last shower every day. This really reduces moisture that could cause mold/mildew. I would suggest Hi-Sheen Industrial Strength Glass Cleaner (that is what I use) on all glass and mirrors, no less than once a week. That product was recommended to me by my shower enclosure and mirror installer. It works great and you can find it at Amazon and maybe HD.

We were on vacation and at the condo we rented, my DH and I marveled that despite no squeegee in site, no watermarks appeared on the glass shower door after use. I asked the owner what his housekeeper used on the door -- both of us were surprised to find out that she cleans it with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and then squeegees it. So, perhaps a Magic Eraser will do the trick....

Stop using bar soap and use the liquid bath gel. It is the powder in bar soap that leaves the scum. After cleaning shower doors and walls, use GLOSS-Gel (get at Home Depot) on the walls and doors. Once a week after shower use a nylon bath scrubbie on the walls while rinsing. The little bit of residue will rinse off easy, no hard scrubbing. Shower will last months before a heavy duty cleaning is needed. Put in a hand held shower head, then use it to rinse the walls and doors each time shower is used. Squeege shower every time. Open shower door and let a fan blow in it for an hour. Shower keeping is a breeze by doing the above, not that much trouble either. It is moisture in bathroom that causes mildew and the fan will help dry it out faster preventing mildew.

I make a paste with Bartender's Friend rub it on the spots and the baked on spots come right off. Make sure you do this before using the self-cleaning cycle which just bakes them on more.

Easy Off Oven Cleaner, yellow can, not the blue fume free. Just put hand cream over anything that is chrome. Let it sit 5 minutes and rinse it off and U will not do it any other way. I have a glass door on my convection oven and have done this 4 years with out a problem. This oven is now 30 years old and looks as though it has just come out of the box. Don't scrub and scratch anything. I use Easy Off on my SS sink. It also looks brand new and is 30 years old. I also use the Easy Off on all of my Corning Ware and the Pyrex where U, R unable to to remove the baked on, brown grease under the glass, handles. It works like a charm. Once U start to scratch the surface it will always stick or the brown will return with every use. Good Luck!

Hard water in and of itself is it's own problem. Mildew in the grout is usually moisture being held in the wall. Today's construction methods; topical membranes, better ventilation, better grout formulations, should eliminate that. Streaky walls? I'm a bar soap guy, for years we used Zest which had no oils. We did absolutely nothing to clean our shower other than a brushing down maybe every 6 months or so. If even that. A few months ago we started getting residue on the walls. Checked, a sure enough Zest reformulated their bar soap. Same holds true for hair care products. Watch the labels. Dark tile will show more than light tile. Glass will show everything. If you go with a hand held shower on a hose, you can use the hand held to rinse down the walls. That'll prevent "dirty water" from drying on the wall and leaving a hazy film of product residue behind.

The glass is actually fine...we do squeegee it after every shower...it's just those darn nooks and crannies that are impossible to get to...someone suggested an exacto knife to scrape it out...kind of afraid of this because of scratching...thanks all!

Not only scratching with the exact-o knife but you would be cutting the silicone and or vinyl strips and then the mildew would end up behind them.

My shower glass company recommended using Lysol foam bath cleaner for soap scum as needed. (Maybe once a month. ) He said that it is the only soap scum cleaner they can endorse as being safe (non-corrosive) on their glass.

Perhaps you could squirt that in the hard-to-clean spots, let it sit for a few minutes then clean with a Q-tip or soft toothbrush. I don't use it often because it will also make my anti-scum polish wear off sooner.

There are a lot of products for removing mold/mildew in showers. Have you tried bleach? I get the cruddy dirt out of the corners of my vinyl windows with bamboo skewers. They won't scratch.
