Costs of Hardi -vs- Certainteed fibercement siding
Comments (6)Overall, I think factory painted (either hardie or certainteed) will be less because of the labor involved with on-site painting. Our "fiber cement" bid was all messed up...we did not get separate bids or competative bids, for that matter. Here's how our builder did it. They quoted a price for siding in our house bid which they listed as certainteed. I was a little disappointed because I had a hardi color in mind. From the bid, I assumed we'd have to use certainteed. Then, when it came time to actually pick the color, the siding contractor sent me samples from hardi, certainteed and a caulk brochure with dozens of colors. He said I could pick anything I wanted - the price in the bid would not change. It included the materials and his labor. This leads me to believe that hardi and certainteed are "about" the same price. The siding contractor is going to get his cut. Since he didn't care whether we used hardi or certainteed, I assume his cut was about the same for either product. Hope this helps......See MoreCertainteed Landmark Pewter or Georgetown Gray--photos anyone?
Comments (50)I’m not sure what part of the country you’re in I’m in Massachusetts and they didn’t even offer a pewter here but they did offer pewterwood which is like a dark gray. Moire Black is black with a little shading. I also had the hardest time in the world it actually caused me so much stress that I think I just gave in to Certainteed charcoal. I did want a contrast between a light colored body house and a dark roof so we did charcoal and Cape cod gray Maibec shingles and I am happy with it. However after I did mine I had seen Georgetown gray on some roofs which is lighter than pewterwood it’s on the gray side with a little bit of green or blue in the background of it. The color variants are very subtle and nice they don’t stand out it is a gray roof if you like something lighter. Keep in mind when selecting certainteed that certain teed pro and premium the colors are basically the same but regular Certainteed shingles the colors are different from the upgraded shingles even if the name is the same. It’s a little tricky....See MoreCertainteed siding/shingles...anyone have pictures?
Comments (33)So, Ive ordered cedar blend, and Im not crazy about the slight change in color, or maybe it's me. It seems darker, slightly rosy vs. cedar. But its water over the dam, now. I cannot decide whether to go with lighter or darker soffit/fascia or darker. Lighter seems the norm but Im drawn to darker. The roof is very prominent coping down the front of house and is called driftwood, a varying grey, maybe brown, blend. can I get away with a grey/green soffit and porch detail? Maybe pics would help?...See MoreEllen Kennon Driftwood?? Funcolors???
Comments (4)Only have a second but can post some photos. These aren't all staged and magazine ready, mind you. :) These are pix from a workin' girl's files. This is EK's Driftwood with a lil pop of Grand Teton Clay as the accent @ the plant shelf. Accessory color plan: crisp (not too warm) creamware and items and textiles in turquoise. So complete palette: Driftwood, Grand Teton Clay, Creams, Turquoises....See Moreathensmomof3
