While all bends and transitions to other shapes cause small pressure drops that reduce the fan capability, if the rectangular duct has a proper transition to round at each interface, and is at least the area of the 10-inch duct (you can check this by calculation yourself), then the duct proper is not your problem. Wolf 1200 cfm fans can handle more pressure drop than these effects cause. I would first question whether the damper that is either over the hood or at the exterior is opening. It may have a sheet metal screw blocking its function. Second, the air flow rate you can move outside is never greater than the flow rate of the air you replace it with. Where is the hood getting its make-up air from? You need at least a window opening the size of the duct area when evacuating the cooking effluent. kas

"From the Floor to the top of the cabinet I have 66 inches." "both my wife and I are 5'10"..." If you're 5'10", you're 70" tall. Why are the top of your cabinets below your head? The top of my cabinets is at 84". Did you mean the bottom of the cabinet? If so, and it sounds much more reasonable, then my thought would be to either remove the cabinet and replace with a chimney hood or replace the cabinet with a smaller (ie shorter) cabinet. For example, the cabinet over my range is 16" tall, but the one over the fridge is 12". I'd replace the 16" cabinet with a new 12" cabinet.

I have the 30" AG Wolf (and love it) and based on the power it puts out would not recommend an over the range micro. But I do have another suggestion. I also have a small kitchen so I got just a small microwave and put it in the dead space in the back corner of my kitchen counter. see link below, it is a small one good for warming up food and coffee, and has a nice looking mirror finish, looks upscale and cute in the kitchen! Larsi - I am not in total agreement on the buzzing. I do have some low level buzzing but harder to hear with the fan engaged. I have all top end (various brands). All Clad, DeMeyere, CIA, LeCr, Staub, ScanPan and probably a few other brands hiding in my drawers and Super Susan. I only have one of each size - just a number of different brands that I picked up over the years.(OK - I might have more than one 2.5qt pan) Lexi - I wouldn't be overly concerned but if you can try it out to make sure it won't bother you too much. I am very noise sensitive and am OK with it. The benefits outweigh this issue. Also- gas makes noise as well - just different noises. I don't think my coil electric ever made noise. I fortunately avoided the ceramic electric non-induction phase. Of note - I seem to have a defective LED light. When it is on, the buzzing is amplified. I need to replace it but in the mean time, I tend to turn off the big lights and use the cooktop light to minimize the effect. I had Wolf come look at my cooktop early on and it the buzzing wasn't bad when they came - but alas, it took me two years to figure out the root cause. When Wolf came to fix my oven, I gave a demonstration so they would know I wasn't totally nuts when I complained about the sound. LOL
