Pat, there are newer free programs that are much better than spybot, it once was very good but now I would encourage you to get malwarebytes and use it instead. You can keep the spybot on the pc it won't matter. here are the directions how to use malwarebytes and where to download it from, instead of the quick scan though do the full scan, update it and run the scan about once a week.

Yes, please use MWB as a first line detection application. However, do keep SB installed and updated as a second tier of detection. They are both on-demand applications and will not conflict. Just don't try to run both at the same time.

As far as Right Media itself, a simple Google using the keywords "right media spybot" (sans quotes) will give you plenty of information.

I would not rely exclusively on Malwarebytes. Multiple scanners are necessary to do a thorough job. I can run Spyware Terminator, CounterSpy and A-squared after MWB and they will pick up malware it missed.

A2 was an excellent application, faltered for a while, and since has renewed its focus and dedication. I recommend it as a second tier application behind MWB and SuperAntiSpyware. My position is similar as reported to SB.

A-squared is also a good application to add to a layered approach to security, in my opinion that is with out a doubt the best approach, choose good dependable programs and layer the protection, whether it is free or paid versions have backup programs for double and triple check.
Plus doing an online scan from time to time so you are using a program independent of your own pc so should something have snuck in and halted your programs with out your knowledge you have yet one more view of things that are not being controlled through the pc. Like ESET or one of the name brand online scanners.
ESET's Online Antivirus Scan

I run Avast antivirus alongside the Zone Alarm firewall and a router, do occasional scans with Avast, Superantispyware, Malwarebytes, and an occasional online scan with ESET. I do all web browsing in 'Sandboxie'.

I thought I'd give 'A-squared' a try yesterday and downloaded and installed version 4.5.0. Today I finally got around to doing a scan and it came up with 5 infected files in the Windows directory:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\taskman.exe detected: Trojan.Win32.Genome.dlyp!A2

C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskman.exe detected: Trojan.Win32.Genome.dlyp!A2
C:\WINDOWS\TASKMAN.EXE detected: Trojan.Win32.Genome.dlyp!A2

All of these came up 'clear' with the 'Jotti' and 'Virus Total' online file scanners.

Also, I was not scanning with the 'heuristic' setting.

I understand that 'false positives' can happen with any scanner, Avast put out a bad 'update' a while back, but this seems to be an ongoing thing with 'A-squared'.
