I was really close to choosing the Caroma  specifically the Colonial design. But DH really wanted an elongated seat which the colonial design didnÂt have. This is an Australian company where water conservation is huge - as it is in much of Europe - where the dual flush is the standard.

If you Google the Caroma, you will find *lots* of positive reviews.

Check over on the Terry Love forum. The Aquia and Caroma are discussed often. I think you will find that the reason the dual flushes are not as popular on this forum is because they are very contemporary in their styling. Many on this forum like Traditional design and for some reason, manufacturers have not integrated dual flush technology in the more traditional styles. I know some on this forum has a Kohler Escale (sp?) that is a dual flush and she did not like that particular models' functionality. I am contemplating an Aquia for my Third bathroom. I have 2 Toto Carlyles that I really like.

DonÂt you guys think that Caroma Colonial is Traditional looking? I thought it was adorable. I also think it would have made for some fun feedback from guests. You could put a #1 on the left button and a #2 on the right :-)

I've got an Aquia (which I love) and think it will blend seamlessly with my planned very traditional remodel. The Aquia is clean looking but not awkwardly space age.

I've got a Kohler Persuade installed in my ensuite. Had it in there for 6 months now. No problems at all and is great to clean because of the skirted design. Most of the time a small flush is all that is needed. I'm a big guy and haven't had a clog yet. The Terry Love forum is great but they seem to be quite biased towards the Toto brand. I've got an Aquia II waiting to be installed in my main bathroom when I finish the reno's in there. I'm sure it will be a fine toilet.

We got an Aquia three years ago when we did a remodel. We really like it. The only potential problem is the small area of water in the bowl does require frequent cleaning (this has been discussed somewhere on this forum.....or maybe it was the Terry Love forum?) but it's not really that big of deal. And we like our Aquia so much that we just picked up an Aquia II for our brand new bathroom being built right now.

I'm glad to hear from a couple of you who actually have dual flush models installed and in use in your homes. It sounds like you are satisfied with them. I read somewhere about the small water area and problems with bowl-wash and odor.

iapq1990, how often do you clean your bowl?

All, are there any dual flush models that are better in the size of water area and/or bowl-wash category than other models?

Our eco-friendly architect was pushing the Toto Aquia but we nixed it because of the small water/landing area, which DH loathes.

Dual-flush toilets are standard in much of Europe, where water is more expensive, so I don't think they're a fad at all. If it works for you, go for it - even though we got a 1.6 GPF toilet, the Aquia is superior in its water savings and I like its sleek unobtrusive look.

Caroma all the way!! I grew up in Australia, where water is scarce, and low flow toilets have been required since the 80's.

The small water area may be a problem for americans, but these are great toilets, always flush and never overflow.

I was in the Portland, OR. airport earlier this week. They had dual flush toilets. Lift the handle up for #1 and push down for #2.

We have 2 toilets to replace (both very old water hogs). I checked consumer's reports. The dual flush did well with solid waste, but some of them didn't do so well with liquid waste.
