Wiping a Drive clean questions

I have a friend that needs a hard drive and I am going to donate my 80GB drive I currently have in use. After I use a program called Drive Scrubber to remove my information on it, is it still usable or does it have to be reformatted again before use? If it does I will reformat it using Windows XP Pro and she will be using just plain Windows XP home. Any answers will be greatly appreciated

Once you have completed the Drive Scrubber process you can easily format the drive.
Click Start
click My computer
right click on the cleansed drive and in the drop down menu you will see the option to format the drive.

With XP there is no need to format with the system files as there was with Win98. You will be asked if you want Fat32 or NTFS, NTFS is the better of the 2 choices for hard drive management.

A small safety note in case you are unaware of it. When you see Format... you will also see those three dots. This is an indication that there will be at least one more step before you commit to the action. A kind of safety valve.

I use the Easy-Off Fume-Free as well in my AG Wolf range. Mine has the infrared broiler and I never spray the Easy Off directly on it. It never seems to look dirty; I think maybe it gets so hot when in use that it pretty much incinerates any grease that splatters up on it - kind of like it's self-cleaning! ;-) I agree with Kitchencommander that if you stay on top of things, wiping out big spills when they occur and doing light general cleanings before things build up, it's very easy to keep it looking good. I worried about the lack of self-clean before I bought it but I think the trade-off (open burners and an infrared broiler, not to mention the price difference vs. DF) was well worth it.

Our 'C' drive is wiped out

Mike: I signed up using your link also. Thanks. What I don't understand is this: I have two users on my laptop (both mine). One is for personal stuff, the other for business. When I downloaded DropBox, I downloaded within my Personal desktop. Do I have to download it again when I'm in in my other "busines" profile? Again, both of these are on the same laptop so it seems redundant to have to download it again. I checked "all programs" on my business user side, but don't see anything for DropBox....though I do see it on the Personal user side which is where I downloaded it initially. I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

I do delete everything before I give a computer away, but I don't wipe it clean. There is nothing stored on my computer that would matter, no passwords, account numbers or any private stuff on it all.

I would at least delete the files you have put on it and be sure to empty the recycle bin. They may take offense if you totally wiped out the hard drive, but if you have the recovery discs you can wipe the drive them reinstall from those discs to return it to the way it was when you got it. I have known of people who bought a refurb pc that still had a lot of files from previous owners. So you never know.
