Corrupt file, How to remove?

My son has a Dell laptop w/ vista prem. He has itunes installed and the other day an error code 2330 came up stating a corrupt file. He tried to remove program but it will not remove it. He also said he used the uninstall part of CC cleaner to try and remove and it says it cannot remove. What can he do or is there a program he can get to repair or remove program safely. Thanks for any help on this.

Restart the computer hit the f8 key keep tapping during reboot and you should enter safe mode screen use the up/down arrows on keyboard to navigate to the safe mode line, once in safe mode try to remove the program as you normally would. reboot the computer.

Also sometimes reinstalling itunes and then uninstalling will work this process reinstalls the uninstall files..

Also if the program is running it will not uninstall you will get message program is being used cannot be removed..

You may also try start run type MSCONFIG in the run box now click start up uncheck anything to do with itunes also check the services tab and uncheck anything their this will stop itunes from running..reboot...Try to remove it...

so quite a few things to try start with easy.. These are xp instructions & should work with vista too..

If you can open the recycle bin and right click the file.. can you do that ? If so, Un-Delete it. I've from control panel, users .. deleted user accounts in win8 and they seem to disappear completely easy enough. So maybe that file is bigger problem than it seems. You can certainly try to use Control Panels 'Programs & Features' icon to uninstall QuckBooks .. and if that works, see if that file goes away. But try to undelete it first may be necessary now. You may need to login windows to the account that won't delete, and from Control Panel 'Folders' options, put everything on Show Hidden files. Then open your C drive while in that account, and double click the $Recycle.bin and then the folder inside it.. try to delete the file there - if it wont delete,,,, try to delete the folder it is in.. and no luck,,, maybe delete the actual $Recycle.bin if you cant get rid of this mystery file. You can try also starting the computer in Safe Mode and try deleting that file too the various different ways I've suggested. This post was edited by mikie on Thu, Jan 17, 13 at 13:55

The only thing I can think of is to run chdsk, on the drive here's how, Start-->Run-->cmd Type in the following: CHKDSK C: /F > C:\CHKDISKLOG.TXT (note: substitute "CHKDSK C" for your drive letter) Hit your Enter key. Click YES on the popup to reboot. After CHKDSK has run type this in Start : Run... C:\CHKDISKLOG.TXT Notepad will open to allow you to view the results of Check Disk

A corrupted file wouldn't do that, but a corrupted file system might. The drive may still be okay, but it's likely that the files on it are lost. Something like spinrite might be able to recover the files, or if you don't need to recover them, you can try reformatting to see if the drive is still usable.

Two ideas: (1) In Word 2013, do a File>Open>Computer and Browse to the file. Click the drop-down arrow on the Open button and select Open and Repair: (2) For the DOC file, you should be able to see the text (no formatting, of course) by simply opening the file in a text editor, such as Notepad (this doesn't work for DOCX).
