Windows-corrupt file

Greetings to all Computer Forum gurus who offer your knowledge to assist those of us getting beat up by our computers.

While I am not a new Garden Web'er, This is my first time here on your forum.

I am on my HP Pavillion dv9000 right now, my problem is on my HP Media Center PC m7470n

The error message is as follows

Windows - corrupt file

C:\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Application Data\ Norton\(OC55C096-OF1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7)SRTSP\SrtETmp is corrupt and uneadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

I have run the disk cleanup still have the problem.

I have tried to restore even going back over a month and it fails to restore.

Can still navigate the internet, but my email refuses to open and the exclamation point as well as the error messages stay on the screen.

Anybody familiar with this problem?

Thaks for reading this far and bunches of thanks n advance for any advise on how to tame this beast !

Lee
