Toolbar corrupted ... uninstall?

Hi everyone -
I am using Window XP with IE7.
First question is should I install the IE9 that keeps popping up on the computer as an update to be installed? I did this one time and it seemed to mess things up a bit for me. So I uninstalled it. But I can't get rid of the little yellow shield at the bottom telling me there is an update. What are your thoughts on IE9?
Second question, I just noticed using IE7 up top on the toolbar, there is a little message saying: toolbar is corrupted. Click Here to uninstall. If I uninstall it, will the whole entire tool bar go away? and If so, how would I get it back?
Appreciate your help.
