Removal of Weather Channel Toolbar Info

We have the Weather Channel's info update tool installed onto our toolbar and it pops up all the time and is becomming annoying. On their site it says to go into the Control Panel and use add remove programs to delete it. Well, in the add remove list there is no Weather Channel at all. So does anyone here know how to get rid of this program. Thanks for info.

I had the same experience and hated that program.
If you click properties, does it have another name?
If you right click "Explore", will it come up where you can delete it?

Use the Search function and see where it is located. Then go there and delete all instances of it.

Hi Chuck, I love my HFGH 10x12, but I think splitting it in two to make a 5x20 lean-to would require a huge amount of rethinking and re-engineering. The roof pitch in the kit is predetermined by angle brackets at the corners, and by a formed angle in the framing piece at the top of the side wall; I don't think you could use that major component if you changed the roof pitch. The framework really doesn't lend itself to cutting the structure in two as far as critical bracing. Not saying it couldn't be done (anything is possible for hard workers!) but personally my husband and I think you'd be better off to consider building your own structure (which would allow you to go wider than 5' if you wanted.) It's nice you will have a solid structure to anchor to. I now know the twinwall polycarbonate panels that come with the HFGH kits will not last more than a few years in my own sunny climate, due to (in my opinion) a lack of UV protection, even though HF continues to advertise otherwise. The panels represent a huge part of the value of the kit, since true UV protected twinwall polycarbonate is expensive, so I now advise folks to take this into consideration, depending on climate, when they consider the kit. also they will give that warning when there is a known problem with the latest version of a program that has not yet been updated or patched, that may well be the case here. They know there is an issue with the latest version but there is not yet a new patched one out yet so they still let you know that what you have currently can be a security risk. In those cases some people would choose to uninstall and wait others will just stay with what they have till the patched version is released.

I also just bought a Gateway laptop and it is filled with junk I don't want. Out of this list, I will want to remove MS Office Home and Student, Napster, AOL, NetZero, and probably Gateway Games since I already used up my "free time" (and I must admit, I had fun). Now -- how do I make sure these things and all references to them are removed? For instance, some of this junk does not appear under Uninstall Programs (such as Netzero) so, I start by deleting the shortcut, then go to the harddrive to Programs file and delete the directory. Is there anywhere I need to go? Does anyone know of anything else that should be deleted? What about "BigFix"? Some of this stuff -- I just don't know what it is yet. Thanks. I've had Dish Network for 6.5 years. Not really any complaints. Only have one receiver. The price does seem to go up. Started out paying $23 per month (was 60 channels back then) and now have maybe 100 channels plus local channels (I added the local channels which is maybe $6 extra) and it is $40 month which isn't bad. cheaper than cable. It does go out in storms but I have never had an outage that lasted more than an hour. Normally its just a few minutes and it comes back on. I dont' have Starz or HBO or anything like that. Installation was free (no start up costs at all) and I own my receiver now. Only thing I had to pay to replace was the remote (button went bad last year) and that was $30. I've never had Direct Tv so I can't compare the two but from viewing their prices online, they seem to be more expensive than Dish and also have higher cancellation fees if that is a concern.

Grandms, I did use the search function and only found a shortcut. I'm thinking it might be a plug in on Firefox as I don't see it in the toolbar when I run IE7. So how do I remove a plug in on Firefox? Or I could be wrong and it's hiding in IE7. Sammy, how did you get rid of it? When I rt. click it the only thing that happens is a box comes up with options for the program (unfortunately none to delete), no properties.

Try this and see if you can find it: Open Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance. On the left side click File Types. In the box that opens, click the View tab. Look for "Hidden Files and Folders" and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is ticked. Then run the Search function again.

If your hidden files are already available, then it may be that this is a plug-in in Firefox. I'm not sure how to undo one of those; I'd have to play around a bit to try.

In firefox tools > add-ons > extensions. If it's on the list left click on it and you will see an option to uninstall.

I did the uninstall as bob 414 instructed now the computer can't get past the windows splash screen in xp.....HELP!!

As I said above, I went into where bob414 instructed and after clicking the uninstall button, it just greyed out and the junk was still in the taskbar. But everything was crawling along. So I rebooted, and the computer froze at the splash screen. Finally, the computer limped to a start and I jumped in and did a restore to yesterday. After the restore all was well again and Finally the JUNK from the weather channel was GONE!!!! So for now, all is well. Anyone reading this.... Do not install that plug in, what a mess it is.
