need help with innernet explorer

I have windows xp and using an have an intel processor.

When I go to a site using innernet explorer I can't see any pictures displayed only red x's.

What do I need to do to correct this problem? I have been trying to fix it since January.

Lora, open IE and click on Tools. Choose Internet Options and click on Advanced. Scroll down to Multimedia and make sure "Show pictures" is checked.

It is marked, I should say that I can view some images when I go to a page where all the images are listed but it seems to be on the main screen as I log into any site there are maybe its called Icons with little images. and all I get are red X's.

IF I could post a screen shot here I could show you what I see.

The internal light and the electric window regulator may be two separate problems, but could be related. Don't be surprised if these are not related. The simplifed checkout procedures found in repair manuals may indicate a bad switch assembly - but don't believe that right-away without further checks. Sometimes, the problem is broken wires in a boot going from the door to the body. This bundle flexes each time the door is opened and wires have been know to part inside their insulation without breaking the extruded insulation. Such breaks usually happen with the driver's door, although the other doors are not totally immune. The driver's door has the big bundle. Remove the switch assembly and check it for continuity in all switch positions before replacing. Hopefully, John_G will chime in and tell us more. He knows about the various methods that Ford uses for controllng the interior lamps

marie- I have four browsers installed on my computer: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. None of them interfere with one another, even when several of them are simultaneously open. I don't know why you are having some of the problems you describe, but you shouldn't be worrying about having to choose between Firefox and Internet Explorer. They are each discrete programs, just like Word or Notepad are discrete programs. Something else is going on here, or you have accidentally made some unintended changes to Internet Explorer, but it should have nothing to do with having two browsers installed.

No that article did not apply. Mine shows "Mod Name urlmon.dll". Zep, can I safely remove IE8 and the update via Control Panel? If so, will it automatically roll back to IE7, or how do I go back?

Without stepping on anyone's toes, could I join the needing help with this issue? If this should be a separate thread, please tell me... Approx 2 months, same problem with IE9. I know there had been an update a few days before I noticed the problem but thought I'd used the browser for same tasks for a few days after that. For the last few (8 or more) weeks, I have to type my username into Ebay sign in when I didn't before, and I can't leave or view feedback there with IE9 any longer. Shop, buy, pay - all fine. My bank, all else has been OK except GW....I can't log into GW either and Tamara hasn't been able to assist. I'm having to change browsers and use Firefox for the forums, and to leave feedback on Ebay...just those two places. Workable but annoying. Windows 7. I didn't intentionally change any settings or do anything where I could have unintentionally changed them that I'm aware of, and I do use CCleaner regularly, no big cookie stashes. I've moved Ebay cookies and GW cookies to the delete side of the CCleaner options, moved them back to the 'saves'...no difference.

I figued it out,,,,, after dealing with this since December. I had installed the newest explorer browser in December on the tool bar is a button to allow pop ups and when I changed it to allow popups the pictures are now displayed..

i have the same problem with the red x ... do i understand that, according to the last above post, that to solve it, i would have to change the tool bar to ALLOW pop-ups?????????

surely i must be misunderstanding (????)

a poster on gardenweb said to switch over to a.t.&t. browser to be able to see the pictures ... it works, but my husband hates it when i do that .. he insists it screws everything up .. don't know whattaheck he's talking about, so i continue on my merry way ........

Hi, As I said above allowing popups on the site that I get all the red x's on allows me to see the images now. It worked for me. You can turn the popups on and off so if it is one particular site you are having the red x's with try it.

In the Control panel open Internet Options and see if your
Security and Privacy Tab settings are to high. Their is also a popup blocker under Privacy Tab. Also click on Settings down on the lower part of the page to see what you have set their.

On this computer I have IE 7.0 and when I open Internet Explorer I don't have the old 6.0 listings at the top of the page.No Tools Tab. I rarely use it anyway.

I found it.
My mistake.
It wasn't were I thought it should be.
