I saw it with my own eyes!
Comments (17)I attract mantis and hummingbirds to my yard. Havent seen a dead hummingbird and my plants have less bugs on them. I just hang my feeders from shepherds hooks. The mantis seem to have a problem climbing them. I have seen a hb in a spiderweb once. As for children being scared of the mantis, I take my sons outside, pick up whatever they are afraid of (as long as it isnt dangerous) and show them that they dont hurt anything. My son was afraid of cicada shells. He now has a collection. He is 4. Maybe a mix of red pepper and garlic spray will deter the mantis from the feeder area. Birds dont mind it, bugs hate it. I use it on my roses to keep the bugs off....See Moream i getting warmer? see kitchen pics please help- close to tear
Comments (10)FWIW I don't think a darker floor would conflict with your cherry floor-- as long as the tone is utterly different, it could look great. For the tile the key seems to be to get away from anything pink-ish or orange-ish. But all of the tiles you pick have that tone, so I would consider changing cabinet tone, maybe to something closer to your floor, and then the combo will be perfect. Even a lighter version of your floor would work. Maybe it's the cabinets that are throwing everything off instead of the floor! All of the tiles you like seem to be similar, so I would start with that and work from there. The tiles are lovely, just too pink/orange for the cabinets. Or, go darker with the tile, but we keep suggesting that and it isn't sounding good to you, so there must be a reason! I agree re: the dark grout-- it would look funny with that tile. With a slightly darker tile it could look awesome. Here's a tile that looks like the others you picked but without the pink tone: http://www.crossvilleinc.com/products_color.cfm?SeriesID=3&TileID=28&ref=products_browse Crossville is a fun place to look if you want to just browse a bunch of colors! Good luck-- you have beautiful choices and anything you pick will be fine. This is all just window dressing....See MoreHow can I help my cacti that i over watered and root/base when limp
Comments (18)Zebra cactus is just common name, the plant is Haworthia. Next, the skinny & tall one looks like a Crassula ovata (jade plant). It is very tall & skinny because it doesn't get enough light. It should be strong enough to self-support. Can you arrange for more light? Week growth will not revert, but if you prune it and keep in more light, it should start thickening. Jade (at least IMO) look best with thick trunk. Next one may be Sempervivum - but photo is too small for me to be sure, and it could be different plant. Perhaps you can post sharper close-up? It is potted too low/deep in the pot IMO. Last one is a cactus, but someone else has to ID it (I have only 3 or so...). The flower is 'fake' since it is glued to the top and yes, they use hot glue gun to do it... It is a bloom of strawflower/everlasting (Helichrysum bracteatum), they last forever. All of the succulents would benefit from being potted in well draining mix. If nothing else, get a bag of perlite, sift it to get rid of dust & smallest particles (kitchen sieve work well; do not breathe dust). Mix perlite with soil minimum 50/50, or even more perlite. You could use pumice instead if you can get it. Adding grit helps a lot too. (I grow succulents in a mix of grit, perlite and some turface)....See MoreI love my house that I can't see
Comments (16)Thanks everyone. I do think a waterproof light over the tub will be our final lighting addition for now (and maybe a lit, on-the-counter make up mirror for the teenager because above-the-mirror downlights are not fun for looking at yourself), but first I have to convince my (electrical engineer) husband that it's a good idea. There is no light in the fan above the toilet, but I think that area now gets enough light that I'm not worried about it. I may try painting the mirror frames for now to save some money. While I would love some backlit ones, I would rather save the money for the master bath (it's crazy) and the kitchen. As far as painting, is there already too much white? Beige mirror frames to tie in the tile? Something more fun (I'm a huge fan of eclectic)? Or maybe the wall behind the mirrors could get an accent color and the mirror frames could be white? The wall behind the mirrors is already, oddly, a different texture from the rest of the room. Thoughts?...See Moremmqlsmom
