Question about bathroom mirror and lights

I posted this on the decorating forum, but I thought I'd post it over here as well to get the bathroom crowd's opinions.

We are almost finished the bathroom remodel and trying to pick out lights and mirror. The counter is 60" long. Our plan was to put a mirror in the middle with sconce lights on either side and a can in the ceiling above. Most of the mirrors we are seeing are rectangular and taller than wide. My question is: will a tall rectangular mirror with sconces on either side look good on this wall? And specifically, what do you think about the 2 mirrors and 2 lights that we're considering? Also, how high should the sconces be? Is there a standard or is it just a matter of personal preference?

Thanks in advance for your help and opinions. I *really* want to get these ordered and installed and move on to other things - we've been at this since January! :-p

I have a similiar situation. My two cabinets combined are 44" wide. There is a 18" base to the left and a 24" sink base next to it. I'm getting a 22" vessel sink. My mirror is 29x39. I am going to put the mirror above the sink base.

When we remodeled our Powder Room pendant lights were our choice. To give an illusion of height to a small space, but also to hide the electrical access box from the original over-the-mirror light, a local glass shop fabricated a mirror which is unframed, rectangular and tall but narrow.

Possibly two mirrors, one over the basin, one to the side, would work in your bath. Use some painters masking tape to develop a size you are comfortable with on the wall.

My mirror with cut outs should be installed this week and I'll let you know how it goes. But honestly, I'm worried and if I had any other choice I would not have done this. I spoke to 3 different mirror places and they all seem to think it was pretty standard and shouldn't be a problem, but I'm a bit fussy and worry about the reflections, etc. I hope I haven't made a mistake and like I say I'll let you know, but I think you should go with the pendants.

My first glance didn't see the border as "too much", until it was focused on. Then it did seem a bit large. I would live with this for a while and add details as others mentioned. You could play with the tile using contact paper to change tile size, add black trim ect. But even the inspiration pics, there are things I would change. Final thoughts are the pattern is is a bit large and yes to wider black trim. A half round black on top of the upper tiles would work as a detail and easy to install. Not sure painting tiles is the answer. Love the BW ticking shower curtain shown. I just finished my kitchen with BW tile and bead board to bring back the feeling of my little 50s house. It is great to know others are around that have some comfort with this style.

And here is the bathroom for the basement that is 99% finished (I need another coat of poly on the door and a little bit of caulking). The color really isn't as bright as the pictures show, but I really like it. The funny thing is, before we did our remodel, I yanked out all the burnt orange in the house. Carpet, counter tops, all orange. Then here I go painting the walls that same color! At least it will be fairly easy to change when I get tired of it. I really like how this room came out. I couldn't find a shower curtain that I really liked under $100, so I made this one from fabric remnants I already had.

I think it could be fine - just don't do a light bar, do something that is round/oval. Or a single large (60") mirror with a light above. Do a quick search on Houzz for 60" vanities, you'll see a few pictures. Here are a couple ideas

Sconces should be hung about level with your face (usually about 66")

You have a faily wide counter. I personlly perfer mirror with a wood frame. But any mirror with light on both side would look real nice. Given your choice, I would choose mirror2 and light2.
