Corel PaintShop Photo Question

I have Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3.

It's driving me nuts trying to figure this out.

This is an example of what I'm trying to do.

I have an image on a slant and I need to use the text tool to write something on the image. So I write the image and afterwards I click on the Pick tool and click on the handle so I can rotate the text to be on the same slant as the image. But instead of slanting my text, it makes a new copy on top of the former text and slants the latter copy. I don't want the text to be copied on top of each other. I just want to be able to slant the text the first time without making copies of it.

If I was able to explain this cohesively, please tell me how to fix this. I'll probably need simple, easy to understand directions please. Thanks :)

Using Corel PhotoPaint 12 I find it easier to create my text separately on a blank sheet. Then I mask the outer areas so I can copy and paste just the text onto the page. At this point I can manipulate it as needed and drag it where ever.

If you are fairly new to Corel you will find by Googling Corel photo paint tutorials you will bring up close to 300,000 hits and you can sort through finding those that are written in a style you can understand. There are loads of great tutorials.

Judy have you ever visited Red Flag Deals? It is a Canadian site where all the younger population (and me) go to post and view the best prices. A valuable tool. 50% of the members are around the greater Toronto area. You might consider advertising on the buy and sell forum there, you never know who has Paint Shop Pro and no longer need it. I see Corel want $99 for version 12 yet Amazon.com has used copies of version 9 for $12.99 and up. However they do not ship to the Great White North yet they ship to many other countries. You can download the free Gimp photo editing program. This is a full featured program but there is a learning curve - as there is with all higher end photo editing software. Or if your aims are more modest you could give Irfanview or Xnview a try. Both are free, both are very versatile. PSP 8 is the best thing I've ever owned! It is absolutely amazing! I've had it since October 2003 and it's become my main hobby (making graphics). The possibilities are endless. The best way by far to learn it is to just find tutorials on the internet and do them. Trial and error is how you learn to use the program. The undo button and command history are magic. You can make an infinite # of mistakes and just undo them with those. Try out a bunch of different tutorials; join a graphics group like Kat Korner; or just open up a canvas and start doodling.

Hi mst, I know it is after Christmas, but here is my two cents worth. My suggestion is that you stick with PSP...I use version 10, but that is up to you (I do not know what PSP X3 Ultimate is, but it sounds good)...the learning curves on each are steep , but it looks like you know something about PSP. I don't know what happened to this forum either - got great advice here in the past, and Urlee was one of the ones who always helped me....well, these things come and go.... Elly

Thank you Urlee. It looks`like there is a paint program in it. And it surely looks like a great photo editor. I also checked out Corel Painter Essentials 4. The brushes are more extensive. It is totally about painting and looks like a tablet and pen would be useful. Now this is a tough call. They both have advantages. sheshe
