The other day I had the Jave icon come for an update.. I clicked on it. Then tonite I saw Ravens post about add-on so I looked at mine. I found a bunch of Jave ones. I never saw them there before. Should I disable any of them?

How many versions of Java are in your Add/ remove programs list? There should be only 1 version 6 u 18. Remove all others. That may clear it up.

Installed both 32/64 bit java in win8 ie10, then disabled it in browser add-0ns. Seems smart and has only asked a couple times in about a week if I want to run a java webpage item. Which magically/appropriately were ok or desired to run. Quick and simple popup message box with what it is info.

Your right it wont take the java gel as well as bare wood. You will need to apply toners to the wood to even out the final color. Best is to try and find a piece of same type of wood to do the repairs with.

Dark-on-dark kitchens are OUT as a trend. Even with the white counters, this is going to be a dark space. With a strong white counter, you want floors that are as light as possible. The gunstock is pretty - if you MUST have a stain. As already stated, cherry wood cabinets are an upgrade...but the upgrade is lost when working with a stain that is so dark it might as well be paint. If you want dark floors (it has been a dream of yours) then go lighter on the cabinets. If you want dark cabinets then go lighter on the floors. And dark floors are a NIGHTMARE to keep looking good/clean. Every speck of dust shows. Why? Because 90% of household dust is 'human dander' (skin cells). And that means it is a 'light gray' in colour. Light gray dust shows up BEAUTIFULLY on DARK floors. Just a little FYI...I would go light on the floors if you absolutely must have dark kitchen cabinets.

Should I remove them.. which ones? I have no idea what I had wrong. I did put the Jave number. I sure didn't put any profanity.

In your add / remove program list:

Remove all JAVA versions except java 6 update 18.

That other thing!

That's just a forum glitch don't worry.. It's over sensitive.

The highest there is 6.0.17.....What I have in add & remove is java 6 update 17. I guess that's the one to leave...right?
Java has always been a problem to me.

Java is a pain! And so is the is the Sun Java site one of the most confusing sites I have ever seen. Your ok with 17.

I think the best way to up date Java is to click Start>control Panel, in there look for Java looks like a coffee cup, double click it and then at the top of the window you will see an update tab click it.

I just upgraded mine and the addons are still there. I disabled them, no option to remove.

Zep thanks for the tip about updating. I went directly to their site.

If you find Java plugin files listed that do not match your current version, that means that the Firefox plugins folder contains outdated Java plugin files which should be removed. This folder is typically in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Mozillla Firefox\plugins
