Close your browsers before you use the control panels add/remove programs to uninstall Java that's listed there.. It might say Oracle Java. It will remove it from the browsers and the main program from your folders. Unfortunetly java uninstall does leave some junk but generally its no harm. Don't worry about javaScript. That's a different thing. If you want.. there is a tiny program called JavaRa that will additionally remove some junk... Apparently that is what it is.. Oracle has updated its widely used Java software framework to fix critical vulnerabilities that criminals were actively exploiting to take full control of end-user computers.

javara is a very legit and safe program we have used and recommended it for years on the help forums. the old ones can be removed manually but using javara just makes it easy and gets some that you may miss manually. any versions you show other than the latest version can be removed. Java has recently added a feature that is supposed to remove the old version it is replacing but they never put out anything that would remove the versions prior to that so it is not surprising to see some very old versions still listed on older pcs. How I would proceed, do the update from the java icon on the pc, that should provide you with 7-7, then run javara and let it remove all other versions it finds.

on the support forums they have been asking for quite some time for them to implement the self uninstall feature because they have to constantly give the directions on how to go about removing the old versions each time they help someone clean out their pc, those old versions were often why they got infected so that is where I was referencing. It is one added step that they were having to go through with just about every person which now should hopefully be not needed. On BBR I know several times they have set up polls to see how many had removed all old versions of java and how many knew they were supposed to, they were gathering the info to help show how important it was to get that feature.
