Join me for a 'Fall Brunch' this morning @my table!

Well, Nov is flying by & soon we'll be carrying Christmas & Winter totes to start decorating for the season! So, I thought while I still have my Fall decor out, I better set a little 'brunch table' to share with you, Holiday-ers!

Here's a beautiful Steubenville Woodfield Tea & Toast Set in the Salmon Pink color. Woodfield, with its distinctive leaf shape are anywhere from 60 - 70 yrs old (the company closed in 1959). I bought a 2-place setting just a few yrs back while on vacation in MN & have collected more since!

The wood leaf was made & gifted to me by my hubby ... aren't they just beautiful ... & the napkin ring is an acorn ornament.

The pretty 'runner' I bought @TJ Maxx a couple yrs ago...I love that store for 'linens' & good bargains, too!

Here's the 'squirrel' centerpc I've had on the table this Fall...you've seen it posted this Fall ... resin squirrel, candle ring on a square plate ~~

oh, wow, Jeanne, I love every bit of it! I'd certainly buy Steubenville if I ever saw it. I absolutely LOVE the squirrel centerpiece, the wooden leaves made by your DH, the acorn napkin rings -- it's all really perfect.

I'm laughing about your "close to a 'Candy' shot as I get" remark. I recently tried my first ever 'Candy' shot by standing on my DR chair and I have to say that it REALLY freaked me out when I looked downward through the camera. I don't like heights and I'm pretty sure they say NOT to look down. lol! Anyway, it was my one and only 'Candy' shot and it came out weird. :O)

PS: I would love a 'fall brunch' -- we're having a snowstorm here and have to go to a wedding reception tonight. :p

Hi Everyone, Enjoyed a lovely dinner last night and cards with our dear friends. I ate Shepherd's pie (crustless type), biscuits and ice cream. Yes I went over my daily limit but I am not worried. I do the WW program and actually just used up my weekly freebie points or calories. Today and tomorrow I am in recovery mode to compensate. So what does my day look like? Cottage cheese 1%, home made barley soup loaded with veggies for lunch, apple for snack and dinner will be a full plate of steamed zucchini, squash, onion and a cooked egg. I will literally load that plate and put a spoon of margarine, salt & pepper. Of course water, water, water today. Why am I telling you this? Because you can deal with a meal event. I faithfully logged how much I had last night and noted the points/calorie values. I know where I stand. I am not deterred at all. I continue. Did I have a large serving? Yes, honestly and honestly two biscuits. Today I am quite happily puttering away at little jobs around the house and enjoying my healthy food choices. So don't despair when you have these moments. You dust yourself off and carry on. If you know a meal event is coming - plan a head. Reduce your calories a day or two ahead and then a day or two afterwards. Don't beat yourself up. Don't regret, feel bad - just do your best and keeping putting one foot in front of the other. You can do this. You can persevere through these moments in life. That is part of living a healthy lifestyle. Just be honest with yourself. Over the coming weeks I want to talk about planning ahead and then staying the course. There is a major meal event/weekend coming up in November for those of you in the US and I'd like to open the communication lines on how to deal successfully with it so you can enjoy your friends and family. Focus on the joy of the fall season. We'll get through that time together I promise and you will continue with your goals. That's what I wanted to say today to everyone, even those silent friends we have out there reading but not posting. I'm reaching out to invite you to come back and read our posts, share our journey. You don't have to share on here to be a part of our journey together. Just come back. If we can help you stay true to your dream then that is all I'm trying to achieve. Congrats! There seems t be a lot of sweet stuff, and because I have a more savourytooth, I'm adding a recipe for cheese scones. They freeze and re-heat really well and will give you some protein! Ingredients Serves: 8 200g/7 oz self raising flour 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp mustard powder 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 40g/1 1/2 oz butter 60g/2 oz grated strong Cheddar cheese 100ml (3 1/2 fl oz) milk Method Prep:15min Ã¢ÂÂº Cook:10min Ã¢ÂÂº Ready in:25min Heat oven to 220 degrees C / gas mark 7 and lightly grease a baking tray. Sift flour, mustard powder, cayenne pepper and salt into a mixing bowl. Cut the butter into small pieces and add to flour. Rub the butter into the flour with fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in grated cheese. Add the milk gradually, stirring well with a knife until the mixture begins to stick together. With your hands, knead the mixture gently to form a soft smooth dough. On a floured surface flatten or roll the dough to about 3cm thick round. Use a 5cm round cutter to cut out individual scones. Place scones on the greased baking tray. Brush with milk and sprinkle some extra cheese on top. Cook for about 10-15 mins until golden. Cool slightly before serving.

How did I miss the first post?? Sounds wonderful! I'll be trying the Lemon Cake next week! I never have lemon extract.... do you think a little of the Boyjiann (sp?) Lemon Oil would substitute? I hate, no, absolutely LOATHE, when I wake up in the morning...it's still dark out and DH is asleep...I turn the kitchen light on with the dimmer on low...open the cabinet to get the coffee, not seeing the heavy metal coffee scooper sitting on top of the can, and it comes crashing down on my eyebrow and the coffee can ends up in the sink! All before I have my first cup of coffee. I made instant coffee instead and walked away.

Jeanne...this is so lovely. The soft colors of the Salmon
colored Steubenville along with the pretty runner and
then the touches of brown is so peaceful and serene
looking - perfect setting for a Fall Brunch.
We're expecting snow here tomorrow...I'm hoping not
too much...I'm not ready for cold winter just yet.

up there'....I laughed and casually said 'I'm Taking a
Candy Shot'...after his puzzled look...I then explained!

Beautiful!!

Not only is it a gorgeous table, but your photography skills are fantastic!!

Ditto to what everyone else said as well.

BTW, I stand on a chair for the candyshot and just hold the
camera over the table by extending my arms. It takes a few tries to get it right, but I don't look at the viewfinder, I just guess at the angle.

By the way, Ladies, Candy may say "she stands on a chair" but I've always felt this was more likely how she takes the Candy shots.....

I'm quite sure we can all picture her swinging from a chandy with her camera. LOL.

Jeanne, your brunch table is lovely and serene. The runner is so pretty, it is the perfect accent to your Stubenville tea set. I love the wood leafs your hubby made. I'd watch out for that squirrel tho, He could cause trouble haha.Thanks for sharing
