Problem with Internet printing

When I print from the Internet, either from Gmail or other sites, like HP tech support, the frame around the text prints, but no text. The pictures that were a part of the text will print,though. I'm using a 3 week old HP Pavilion AMD 64x2 Dual Core processor 4200+, 991 Hz 960MB of RAM.

Windows XP ver 2002, service pack 2.

As I said, I clck on the text I want to copy, use either of the print Icons and take a look at Preview, and there will be the title and the frame displayed around the text. It prints just as described.

I looked for a solution on HP's tech support site but couldn't print that text either.

A call to the Tech Support in India got an offer to invest $69.00 in a different site that answers that kind of question. I thought it would be nice to answer a question of a new owner who, at that time, had had his HP for three days.

I did a search on this topic, and found one thread with almost the exact problem, but there was never a solution offered in the past year.

Maybe when you preview the page look at the drop down box options on the menu bar. You might see what you need. Might not.

I cant follow what youre saying above but if I highlight certain text on this page and right click the highlighted area, then choose print preview,, it shows the whole page.. then I use that drop down box to select print highlighted area only... that's what it does.

I used the HP tech support advice, Mikie. So far the machine is printing from everything except my Gmail.com site. That site refuses to print.
I'm using Firefox 2.0 as browser, but had the same problem in Explorer. I blanked the Margins and Headers/footer tab, as instructed. So far no joy.

Something it sounds like ... If your Linksys has MAC authorization set,,, temporarily turn that off. Or put the new dell wifi mac in the allowed list. Hopefully if you understand 'Shared and Open' systems. Could be an oversight there too..

Still having trouble with links on websites not working. When clicked a link will not transfer but it puts a colored blank with an x in it which will not refresh or do anything. When the x is clicked it takes you back to the original website. This happens in most websites that have reference links to use. It does not happen with links in posts on this website. Using IE 9 and Win7 Home Premium. All updates are installed. John W.

What SMTP (outgoing) server were you using? Unless your ISP has a specific outgoing server that allows you to connect when you're outside their network, that was your problem. Most hotel broadband connections, wired or wireless, don't have their own mail servers. Thus you have to have one of your own that will let you logon securely from a random connection to the Net. Try using a account at Yahoo, Hotmail or log onto ISP online account and send through them.

When installing Norton as a Comcast customer, the download is from Norton. I was a Norton Customer before becoming a Comcast customer and other than a bit of brand signage, the Norton Suite doesn't appear to have different versions. There's no need for any third party uninstaller program - if you look on your program menu under Norton Security Suite, one of the choices is Norton Uninstall. I can tell you from my own experience that that utility works very comprehensively. I once had a corrupted file that required an uninstall - reinstall that wasn't working for me, and Norton Tech Support used that tool on a remote connection. OP, I'm glad everything is working for you again.
