I have a Rangecraft hood with baffles (my first real hood ever) over a CC rangetop. The baffles have never leaked. There is no trap or grease cup to hold gunk (I could never figure out why VAH thinks that's a good design). My baffles hold any grease or oil or whathaveyou until I take them out and throw them in the DW. I used to run them through the DW every week or so but have been forgetting lately due to the fact that I run a full DW twice a day and usually don't have room. Even washing them once a month like I've been doing is fine. The baffles never drip anything on the floor counter when removing them and putting them in the DW. It's so incredibly easy to clean baffles.

Check with your local planning department. With 10" ducting, you definitely need a roof jack that doesn't constrict air flow. The standard Vent-A-Hood recommended roof jack is fairly low profile. It seems unlikely that it wouldn't comply with your local wind resistance standards. Are you sure it's not just your roofer's resistance to using something different from what he usually installs? It's a pretty sure bet that yours isn't the only house in Miami-Dade County with a 900 cfm Vent-A-Hood.

I have a 36" range hood with 4 baffle filters. Every 2-3 weeks, I'll put it in the dishwasher to clean. It's been about a year now, and as time goes on, the baffles come out of the dishwasher not as clean as they did after washing when I first got the hood. It's all bc of the grease, smoke and heat from cooking and after a while, that stuff really gets harder and harder to remove completely. The first time I washed the filters, they looked brand new. Now, there's still a residue. To get them sparking clean again, I scrub them by hand with a hardback sponge and then throw them in the dishwasher. I'm unable to clean the inside part of the baffle and just have to rely on the dishwasher or perhaps an overnight soak in boiling hot water and soap. In any event, they come out clean enough and I'm still satisfied with them over the mesh filters. Those, after about a year or so, are so sticky and grease-laden, even after washing, that you'd have to continually replace them.

Proline are rock bottom priced Chinese made hoods that use 430 SS instead of the much more common and more expensive 304 SS. 430 SS uses less nickel therefore is a little darker and more prone to rust. You need a 60-66" hood with at least 1200 cfm. You will not find another company that sells cheaper. Maybe a new Chinese company selling something equivalent. In 2010-11 about 10 people on GW purchased Proline Hoods. Five were satisfied including one that was very satisfied and posted on every thread that mentioned Proline extolling the virtues of the hood. About three were unsatisfied with the lights. Either they were too dim or would not turn off. One got a free circuit board but got the run around about getting reimbursed for labor. Two had major problems. Not getting the right parts and another(if I remember correctly) too many holes drilled into the hood and duct cover. One complained to the better business bureau and the BBB closed the case with an unsatisfied rating saying the company never answered. This person would also post in any thread that mentioned Proline. The other just grew frustrated and posted so again and again. Eventually, people on here stopped buying Proline. But if you want something of better quality and reputation with the correct size and cfm you will have to spend significantly more. Do you want two remote blowers or just one for the outdoor hood? Fantech budget but kinda noisy remote blower. Probably not a good idea if you have neighbors close to your property line. Abbaka considered the best remote blowers. You have to maker sure blower is compatible with hood. If it is single speed I don't think they make those anymore. 3 Speed or Variable speed.
