Vent-A-Hood VentAHood Range Hood BH340PSLB

We purchased a Vent-A-Hood BH340PSLB range hood liner, 900 CFM and 6.3 sones. We like the fan, but this is the problem: The recommended roof vent for this fan is designed to allow high air flow and it is HUGE compared to most vents in this area (Miami). Also, it is not Mimi-Dade approved for wind resistance. Our roofer said that he only instals gooseneck vents for kitchen hoods and that he would not recommend the manufacturers vent in Miami, hurricane alley. Vent-A-Hood says that a gooseneck will impair function of the fan and it will cause it to be noisy. Is there a Miami-Dade approved vent for high flow kitchen fans? If not, what would you recommend?
