You know, they're both fine DWs. The important thing is, they load differently. Have you taken a 'sample box' in to an actual display where you can see if odd-sized dishes and pots/pans/casseroles/baking sheets will fit? I was perfectly open to buying a Miele, KA or F&P Dishdrawers. But when I tried to fit really big items or thick potteryware - the KA was the only one that was going to work for me. My KA is a different model but has the Pro Wash. On mine it works only in the 2 back rows on the bottom rack, with items facing in reverse (towards the back rather than towards the front). It works really well - I do a lot of cheese-encrusted casseroles and it gets the casserole sparkling clean - but there's a couple of things that are just a little too tall to fit in easily. I've noticed here that many people discuss the right detergent to use with the Miele. It seems a little fussier about that than the KA, I'm not sure why. I know that for DWs without food grinders it's important to use the enzyme-based detergent. THe only detergent I've had a problem with on the KA was a 'green' brand that was just awful. Otherwise I've used powders and gels of different brands, and they've all worked just fine.

Off topic, but may I ask about your chandelier, Mojua? Is it Hubbardton Forge? Have you found the lighting to be good for tasks (eg homework) at the table? DH and I were drawn to one that was very similar, but I had been told for kids working at the table I should get downlights. Thanks for your input.

I have a KA double convection wall oven KEBS208. I was trying to hold off on self-cleaning it because of the problems I read about but I finally broke down and cleaned it last night. It looks so nice again with that pretty blue color (although the racks remain spattered)and I just used the oven this afternoon on 2 different settings and different temps. It worked fine - what a relief. Actually my friend with the same oven cleaned hers first with no problem so that's the reason I decided to clean mine. I think you should feel safe getting the KA - no need to worry about the self cleaning problem, although if you get it make sure to clean it within the warranty period! I love my KA oven, we use it often for pizzas at 500 degrees and use it at regular temps also. I pretty much only use the convection oven feature (used regular bake this afternoon for cheesecake, not convection) and broil. I'm not picky when it comes to an oven but I really like this one. I have a Kenmore SS fridge, made by Whirlpool. It's three years old and has never even flinched at us. We chose it because it was ginormous and has a very bright interior. While looking at some models, you could tell that you'd need a flash light if you put any food in there. I just bought my home and it came with the original 1982 Jenn-Air drop-in range / oven. I don't care for the down-draft ventilation at all. Whoever thought that up was an oaf. Functionally, after 25 years, it's "fair". There's one thing that should be mentioned: "Brand" is no guarantee of quality or reliability anymore. (And you asked about reliability). Most manufacturers contract out the manufacture of their parts, so Company A in China makes the leaded water lines for your fridge and Company B makes the valves for the gas stove. Someone else puts them all together and calls them the brand of the day. The Brands merely "spec" the parts and the manufacturers produce to specs. And if the CEO wants a bigger bonus, they can allow lower-quality plastics, etc, in the middle of a production run. What a Brand does get you is specific kinds of service and support. Bosch may jump all over the chance to wow you on the rebound of a problem, yet the Jenn-Air group may not.
