No one lately has much good to say about Jenn Air cooking products. Don't worry about matchy matchy appliances.

Seriously, if you can't find much about a specific model, go on the over-all info on the company. Jenn Air (Maytag/Amana) altho recently bought by Whirlpool, hasn't shown serious signs of recovering from their disasterous quality slide yet. Maybe they have, but do you want to be the one to test that?

And don't say that you'll just get the extended warranty and buy a poor product. Please don't say that.

Thanks fairegold. It is not that we are worried about being matchy, however, we like the specs on these models and their looks in their price range. But, no, do not want to be a costly tester. Have considered the Samsung FD bottom freezer with the JD Power claims...we already have a LG MW and will be getting either the Bosch DW or Kitchen Aid. Salesman in my area swears by Kitchen Aid DW. Says Boschs' DW will leave water to be dried if enough Jet Dry is not used? Most reviews on this site are good, but I want a DW you do not have to clean dishes or DRY!! Especially DRY!! (Not in Miele's price range, or am I? Again, do not want to dry if it is a lower scale model) I have not read much good about LG customer service and their ice machines. Don't know if they have a dual fuel range? Kitchen Aid range (Pro-style like Jenn-Air), I have read has self-cleaning issues? So, in my price range with a 30" size in range, there is not a boat load of options and we want the PRO-STYLE look of Kitchen Aid range or Jenn Air. So which is a "good choice"??? Kenmore is made by whoever and do many if any local service co. work on Samsung? Have called in my area and most are "no" so if somethings goes wrong with it do you have to pay a premium for it to be fixed and how long do you have to wait for something that is used on a daily basis? Sorry, if you can't tell seem to be running into walls every direction I turn. That is why I turned to this site...Thanks for your time and more suggestions or experience would be great!!!!

We are getting the Wolf D/F range, but we are also getting the Jenn-air FD SS fridge with the pro handles. I did a lot of research and I am at the point that unless you spend $6,000 for a sub zero, or thermador built in they are all pretty much the same. I chose the Jenn-air simply for the looks,the interior and the pro-handle. This is our 8th house and we have tried them ALL. And I can't say one is any better then the other. (or worse)

I am thinking about the Dacor fridge which is also made by the appliance monopoly -- but I understand they do not use A&E for their service. I'd get a GE CD FD because I LOVE the way the drawers are in the freezer - and it is much less tinny than the others, but people keep saying how lousy the GE fridges are -- and the deli drawer is much smaller than in the other brands. We can't afford a built-in. What to do?

My daughter has had her KA CD fridge for 3 years and has had no problems with it. I think it is a crapshoot with these refrigerators.

We have the JennAir FD fridge and we love it! We've had it about a year with no problems whatsoever.

I really like the huge pullout tray under the veggie drawers. I use it to store eggs, deli goods and cans most of the time, but it can hold two large party trays when need be. The produce drawers keep veggies and fruit way better than my old Frigidaire standard model fridge.

Shelves are adjustable and there's lots of good wide spots to put things on the door like milk jugs.

The water (filtered)comes from a spout just inside the door and ice is easily accessible from the icemaker at the top front of the freezer. I like that the water doesn't hog interior space like the in-door models do. Plus it looks sleeker from the outside, IMO.

I really like this fridge a lot.

I was looking into the JennAir wall oven as well, but it seems to be rated poorly. We have decided on a Fisher and Paykel wall oven instead.

I hate those electronic panels and F&P has knobs. I had an electronic panel on my old slide-in range and the stupid thing was always greasy and scratched.

Glad you love your Jenn-air FD. Ours should be delivered within the next two weeks. I loved the looks also, and I still think they are ALL THE SAME!!! I have had two GE's -liked one-hated one. Three Maytags-liked two-hated one.
One kitchen-aid ? can't remember if I liked it or not. And one Jenn-air which I liked. And one Fridgerdar which is in our camp, and seems to be ok(real cheap model.)

I have the Jenn air FD counter depth fridge. Very happy with it.

I have the Jenn Air FD counter depth fridge...I looked at them all and I agree, they all look the same. Jenn Air offered the best panel ready look.

What is it that many do not like about their Jenn-air gas ranges?

I have a Kenmore SS fridge, made by Whirlpool. It's three years old and has never even flinched at us. We chose it because it was ginormous and has a very bright interior. While looking at some models, you could tell that you'd need a flash light if you put any food in there.

I just bought my home and it came with the original 1982 Jenn-Air drop-in range / oven. I don't care for the down-draft ventilation at all. Whoever thought that up was an oaf. Functionally, after 25 years, it's "fair".

There's one thing that should be mentioned: "Brand" is no guarantee of quality or reliability anymore. (And you asked about reliability). Most manufacturers contract out the manufacture of their parts, so Company A in China makes the leaded water lines for your fridge and Company B makes the valves for the gas stove. Someone else puts them all together and calls them the brand of the day. The Brands merely "spec" the parts and the manufacturers produce to specs. And if the CEO wants a bigger bonus, they can allow lower-quality plastics, etc, in the middle of a production run.

What a Brand does get you is specific kinds of service and support. Bosch may jump all over the chance to wow you on the rebound of a problem, yet the Jenn-Air group may not.

I have the all gas Jenn-Air Prostyle slide in range and absolutely love it. It has been installed since Dec. 06 and no problems. Of course we bought that and our Jenn Air OTR and our KA Architect DW before we found the forum. But all have worked out extremely well so far. And we don't buy any warranty add ons. HTH Sue

I also have the gas Jenn-Air Pro slide-in range. We bought it from Sears in February, but it wasn't installed until the end of June. I just loved how the range looked, very unsual for me because I usually over-analyze before purchasing anything. I love the knobs and the door and drawer handles. It wasn't until after I purchased it that I read people's opinion of it on this forum. So we purchased the extended warranty from Sears.

I really like the range. The burners are very practical with one "super high" burner, one simmer, and two other normal burners (I'm too lazy to get up and look at the exact BTUs).

The 'convection' aspect really works, now that DH read the manual and we realized there was a recommended rack location.

I've also appreciated and used the 'warming drawer.'

Downside: Food/grease splatters really show up on the top and so it has to be cleaned daily...(hard to ignore). But task is easier with microfiber cloth. Maybe splatters shows up more than my last range because of the halogen lights in the hood. Anyway, that's my personal experience with the Jenn-Air.

I have all Jenn air pro style appliances that were installed in June 2006. AG slide in range, CD FD Fridge, Micro/convec/hood and DW with integrated controls. All are working as they should and I have had no problems with any of them. (Knocking on wood). I did buy the extended warranties, mainly because of all the electronics.

Don't buy the PRD3030NP! I have had it for a year and techs have been out six times. First, the convection unit didn't work and had to be replaced. Second, the transformer blew (flames shot out of the back splash piece), and the oven racks keep breaking. The oil in the sliders dries out and the bearings pop out into the oven.

I would look at Wolf, DSC, GE Monogram, etc.

We bought the Jenn Air pro style duel fuel slide in range along with the matching fridge and dishwasher. The fridge was fine, I really liked the dishwasher but the range was a nightmare. Within weeks the digital display went, soon after that the oven light went, I had the convection unit replaced twice before I just gave up on convection cooking! When I used the convection option on the oven all the grates on the cooktop vibrated loudly. Boiling a large pot of water would take approx 20 mins on the high BTU burner. The oven never baked evenly and had trouble maintaining temperature and the oven door used to on occasion lock itself! Very amusing when the kids are shouting for dinner! I am researching a new range at the moment and I would not even consider a Jenn Air. I hope you haven't bought yours yet!

I had the Jenn-Air gas cooktop, and I had a terrible problem
with the finish on the white grates chipping off. Impossible
to keep clean. Maybe any color but white would be okay. I
have since had a Kitchenaid cooktop with black grates and have
never had a problem with chipping.

I put a deposit on that range (Model # JDS9865BDP) but recently heard from a friend who's range has been a nightmare from the get go 2 years ago. I may be able to get my deposit back.

Anyone out there with recent experiences?

Another friend purchased a Frigidaire Professional Gas Range for a good price and likes it, but I don't think they make that model anymore. Prices have skyrocketed lately.

The only range out there that looks like good quality to me is the Bertozonni. It is a step up price wise but much less than a Wolf. Anyone out there had experience with or knowledge of this brand?

I have nothing good to say about my Jenn-air range. It is a slide in 30" range with grill on one side and stovetop on the other. I have had it for 11 years and it has been 11 years of nothing but problems. NEVER will I buy another Jenn-Air.
