Can't download pdf program

I removed Adobe Reader 5 so I could download the latest version. Now when I try to download the latest version I get a screen that says that page can't be shown. This

also happened when I tried to download Foxit and PDF Exchange. I read some past posts about this problem and downloaded REVO, but I'm not sure if it will help my problem, or if it will help, how to use it. Any suggestions?

Forgot to say I'm using XP and IE8.

For most programs, including Adobe, you typically don't need to do any uninstall. The installation of the new version goes on top of the old and automatically takes care of everything. Sometimes it even complicates things if you try an uninstall and it's imperfectly done. However, whatever you did should have nothing to do with a page display problem. What operating system are you using, and what is the web address of the page where you are trying to download Adobe?

have you checked to see if you possibly need an updated version of Adobe? Foxit is an excellent choice to use if you choose not to use Adobe. You might get the secunia tool which will check your pc to see if you have all your programs updated, this helps keep you secure also. there are 2 versions this one is the free online scanner version Secunia Online Software Inspector on that page if you click on PSI it will take you to the page for the version you can download free to put on your pc.

Thanks everyone. I didn't imagine folks would try to locate this file and check on their computers. that's very nice of everyone. I think people are finding the short guide (which is just a few pages). The manual is different (it's over 40 pages) - I will link it here: http://www.dvdflick.net/guide/guide_new.pdf This is what I can't get to print. Most other documents do print. I have had occasional trouble printing - but usually it's a pdf file that only Acrobat will read (or at least some pdf readers won't read them). had this experience with some Medicare/government documents. Saving to my hard drive doesn't help. Bob - I think you had the right document. I looked at properties as well - and sure enough, it says printing not allowed. This is really bizarre to me that printing is not allowed. That makes it very difficult to refer to the manual while you are actually working with the software. I see that the author wants me to ask permission to print - it's password protected. He's asked to be contacted via the forum - so I've just done that. Bob - thanks for the linux/ubuntu link. I have no idea what any of that means. I can download and burn to disc - but don't know what it would look like to boot into linux - never done it - don't know if I could figure it out. I think this is useful sometimes - but this isn't so urgent. So I will leave learning linux for another time when I'm not drowning in more pressing tech clean-ups. Thank you. Lynn.

do you mean the pdf is on your computer somewhere and you need to locate it, or do you mean you need to locate the pdf manual for the item you bought somewhere on the internet, need to know the website to find it at? If you need the website go to google and in the search box enter the model number and search for it or go to the manufacturers website and look there. It will show it is a pdf file, just right click on it and save it to your computer then be sure you again right click on it and scan it with your antivirus and antimalware programs before you open it.

Instead of scanning the form as a .pdf, scan it as a .rtf (RICH TEXT FORMAT). You should be able to select this under SCAN DOCUMENT SETTINGS. Then open the .rtf file with your word processor and edit as needed. After editing, save it as a .doc if you wish and then print-fax-email as needed or you can convert to .pdf if needed by using a free online pdf converter.

That URL worked perfectly for me using Opera browser. Try using another browser other than IE8. You really should have more than one browser anyway. Many here prefer Firefox, and then there's also Chrome. These are all good and are really safer to use than Internet Explorer.

That's the right place, your operating system is compatible with the newest Adobe Reader, and I had no problem getting the site to download for me using Firefox. I agree with grndms...try another browser. Good luck.

I downloaded Firefox and still wasn't able to download the Adobe Reader, so I tried Foxit. This is the message I got.

C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\Downloads\FoxitReader31_enu_Setup_091125.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

Can you tell me what this means?

I do not recommend over writing applications particularly AR. Since v5.5 I have assisted several users were they overwrote AR and ended up with two active versions on the system and they conflicted.

I personally do not like nor do I recommend AR as it has become more and more integrated into the O/S. Plus, when you do want to remove it it is difficult and only using REVO will a user maintain his/her sanity.

I have been using and recommending Foxit for quite a while now after being referred to it here on the forum.

I downloaded PDF Exchange and (it took me a bit to figure it out) it's working fine. Thanks so much for the help. Now, can you tell me about using Foxfire? I've read on this forum that a lot of you like it better than IE, but I was wondering why. I currently have both downloaded on my laptop. Should I keep both? And, if so should I have both on my PC?

You can have all the browsers you wish installed on your system they do not conflict. You will for convenience have to designate one as the default browser.

One benefit to having multiple browsers on a system is if one fails you have a pre-installed backup to continue working or resolve your concern.

To me personally, a browser is a browser. Just like cars some are Ford and some are Chevy people. After years of using IE as my primary I have moved to FF as it is faster on my antique DUN. Some of the add-ons are nice, but it does not walk on water.

yes you have to keep Ie it is part of windows and it is always best to have at least 2 browsers on the pc incase one should fail you always have an alternate.

I use and love firefox, there are tons of great add-ons for it that make my life so much easier, try searching here on the forum for firefox and you will find a lot of info.

those should get you started, you will love the ease of use and the tabbed browsing.

the add-ons I always suggest are
adblock plus to prevent ads on pages and use the subscriptions on Ricks easylist page
Adblock Plus 1.1.3
EasyList and EasyPrivacy after you have added adblock plus to your firefox and restarted it then go there and scroll down to the 2 yellow lines on the right it says add to ABP click on that for both to add to your adblock plus.
