copying a cd from a copy

Okay I know it's wrong, but I want to do it anyway. No scolding necessary! I have a copy of Office Pro 2007 and I'm trying to make a copy of the copy. It copies the files - they are on the CD, but apparently, when I try to run the new copy, it says it's corrupted or not available. I'm wondering if somehow it knows it's a copy of a copy.

Anyone know how I can get my new copy to execute or a "backdoor" way of copying it? I do have the serial number, but I can't even get to the part where it asks me to enter it.

I prefer NOT to install the program on my computer without a back up copy of it for myself since I have to give the other copy back to the owner (who copied it from the original).

The easiest way is to right click the song Kim Carnes - Betty Davis Eyes and "Send To" CD-RW or DVD-RW This should burn it as Data, just like it is on your computer. If you want a playable CD that will play in CD players, you'll probably need a program like Nero or Roxio and burn it as a Audio CD. Seems a waste to put one song on a CD when you could add all your songs as Data to a CD for a backup, or burn an Audio CD with 6 or 7 songs that will auto play. Might look around for the video Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes - (American Bandstand) then you'd have the song with the video.

That happened to me once and this is what I did. Turn off your computer and open the tower case. Unhook one end of the cd ribbon and plug it back in securely... then do the same with the other end. Close the tower and boot up you computer. After doing this it worked great for me. I hope this helps. Valerie

Michelle, Go to this link, the procedure is the same. Download the freeware program, get yourself an inexpensive walkman type tape player to play your tape, and patch it into the line-in jack on your computer. GG Here is a link that might be useful: LP to CD

I see no problem in making a duplicate of a program that I own.

Justme, I have DVD's I want to copy, but of course we can't buy the software in this country. I have DVDs that I watch over and over and they are becoming scratched even though I am very careful with them. I have a lot of money invested in my 250 movies and I want copies of my favorites to use and save the origs. We used to do this with tapes all of the time and nobody fussed about it.

I realize the OP wanted to copy a copy. I don't see what the fuss is all about. You can call it illegal but according to the FBI it's only illegal if you sell them.

no no I think y'all might have missed the part where they said this copy did NOT belong to them! They do not own the product. Using someone else's product is indeed illegal. Owning the actual product & key and making yourself a copy is a different situation. Making copies and handing them out to others gets in the illegal territory.

There is nothing morally wrong with copying a product that you own for your personal use. I do it once in a while with music CDs. I burn a clone to carry in my truck while the original remains in the home.

I can't think of a justifiable reason to copy a DVD for personal use, but there may be one.

In this instance the request and cited intent was unclear and appeared to be shady. Always remember on the Internet nothing is as it seems.

"The FBI says......" I challenge that statement as being myth and legend. In Federal statutes, as in state statues regarding contraband, possession alone is a violation. Intent is not an element unless the individual is being charged with manufacture and delivery.
