Screen Shot 8????

I have a change to buy Screen Shot 8 by Broderbund. Does anyone have this? and will it do what I want it to do? Any other programs?

Several time I wish to print exactly what I see on the screen, such as the list of programs I have,

There are Many free programs that will do what you want.

BTW: What OS system are you using and why can't you just use your PrtScn option?

Cathyid, not at all. I just didn't take the time after copying the links to the pics to go back and get the URL. I wanted to get back to the lions. I find this site just remarkable. Considering the technology involved, along with the cost, how we can just sit here and "be there," and for free. Hearing those lions roar was a real treat. I missed the lions at the water hole. Or as Pieter says, "the wat-ole." I saw this evening that Karulas' second little one has shown itself. Keep watching. Sue

I have quarter minus and like the look. What I don't like is trying to remove tree debris from the gravel but this problem exists regardless of the size of the gravel, although the larger gravel is easier to blow debris out of. You can get better coverage per ton with 3/8" (140 sq ft/ton) than 1/2" (120 sq ft/ton). Quarter minus you get 150 sq ft/ton. It really depends on the look *you* like.

Old_dirt, take it easy and don't get too impatient. Your lovely garden will wait until you are ready to get out there! We only have a half-acre here, but it keeps me busy. This was last June-all back yard upper level (we have three levels and this is the one I worked on last year-behind garage, patio area. I need to fill in blank spots, but will wait until last year's plants show themselves. In pic below, our Sam and way too many unattended-to-yet weeds. I worked on it , but hadn't started yet. Looking back toward patio. Note to self: divide Carex this year! Anyone near us is welcome to some-should have divided long ago. Moving to right around patio w/Sam again. Below, I interplanted the hosta with Chelone, heucherella, heuchera, astilbe, ferns and Gentiana, and other typical companion plants. The old bench in the background is all that is left of a square redwood picnic table set from my childhood which makes it at least 69 years old! New front side yard (driveway to right) looking back toward upper back yard. Will be filling in this year. Nothing is popping up yet other than daffodils which started blooking this past week. Warm weather expected in the coming week (actually getting up to 70 degrees F.!), so I expect to see some of the spring perennials to start showing. The hosta pips won't show themselves for at least a while-end of April?

Wow is all I can say!!! Always my favorite thread. As others have said, I come back to this page often for ideas and inspiration! So many beautiful spaces to enjoy .... thanks for all the great posts! This area is on the left side of my yard. As you will see, I have a normal size back yard, so space is always an issue. A longer look A little longer still...this area continues to my front gate. This is along front gate on left....don't have a pic of the other side of this area. I would not pay for a screen capture program there are so many great ones that are free some already mentioned
there are also firefox add-ons that will do screen capture.
always look at gizmos free list for good safe choices

If by chance you are more interested in captures from your browser and you use Firefox, there is a free add-on called Fireshot which will take full screen captures all the way down to a selected area. During installation you will be even allowed to configure the same privilege to IE.

that is the one I was thinking of and could not remember the name of it, I have that one on my windows firefox and like it. On linux I have ksnapshot which I LOVE, wish they made a version for windows.

From gizmos here are several mentioned--anyone have any of these and pros/cons/
PicPick, schrenshot capitor, bugs shooting ( I think,can't read my own writing) ZScreen and Jing
Can't use anything because cannot install firefox.

Paint has been on every PC I have had, that is what I use with prt scr.

Can't? Prohibited? Don't want to? Just wondering why not?

In the age of costly ink and rising paper costs I like an application which allows me to print only the target area that I want. I don't need all the ancillary items on a page just the information desired. A full copy of an entire web page is unnecessary and costly in the long run.

was wondering the same thing what is stopping you from getting firefox?

I have used the one from faststone, gadwin, and bugshooter
all did what I needed. I also used and liked MWsnap
MWSnap
which was on gizmo's list too.

just make sure which ever one you select it does support your version of windows.

and I thought I had seen where fireshot was now for IE too and it is indeed now available for use on IE

Vista has the Snipping Tool which will do the job. I believe W7 has it also.

I asked DH (hubby) about Foxfire, but he would rather not install it on the computer. Since he has built up both his and mine computer from scratch (tiger.com+++), he said it would change the operating system and since he is my "help" when I screw up, guess it will stay that way, but I do get alot of help here and he is ok with that.
Will review the postings and go from their. We both do appreciate all the help all of you have give me.

it does nothing to change the operating system, all it is is an additional browser does not change Internet explorer or remove it nor affect anything about it.

And it is highly advised to always have at a minimum of 2 browsers on any computer because they do fail and if you only have one and it fails you have no access to get online so having firefox as an added browser is actually beneficial in that aspect also.

but as I said in my post the fireshot add on is now available for Internet explorer too can be added on to it.

The one I use and have found it to be the easiest is Snapsaver.
It's in German if you can manage that, but it's a great and free program. I'm using it with Win XP Prof but not sure if it works with Vista.

It will save screens in rapid succession with just a click of the PRT SCR key.

Corel (not free) has a screen capture function which is very flexible.

Marie - have you tried the Print Screen button on your keyboard? Sometimes it is labele PrtScrn - it is usually in the upper right part of the keyboard.

Press that key, then paste it into any editing software or into Paint and you can print it directly form that.
