If you take it out of the pot you could divide it and have 2 or 3, but it would take some to get big again mbug, that Kinba is stunning hosta_maker, it would be nice to see that seedling develop diane, your Kiwi looks like the one I had, which died out. Comments (87)Debra- I’ve had the opposite experience with Black Scallop ajuga... I‘ve lost it in most places it was planted. There are only a few plants here and there remaining. I would say that it seems to be susceptible to wet soil in winter, except there are places it survived that are probably pretty wet through the winter. I have one small awkward area at the bottom of the deck stairs and had hoped it would fill in there... but it disappeared. I replaced it with ajuga Chocolate Chip... and that seems to be doing better - so far. So, either way, success or failure- I also wouldn’t recommend Black Scallop, cute as it is....See MoreHosta Giants 2020
Comments (21)oursteelers, debra- thanks, my FS is in almost all sun, but gets a lot of water. I love its subtle coloring and thick leaves. I don’t have S&S, but have it’s other baby- Winter Snow- which does burn and get ratty with too much sun. FS seems to tolerate the sun better, but again- plenty of water....See MoreHosta Progression 2020
Comments (34)I spend hours in the winter comparing hostas side by side using the Hosta compare tool Hosta Library Compare. Then I sleep on it, order some more and then compare them. It may sound tedious, but I enjoy it. The next year, I may decide to move some (especially poor performers) or ones needing different sun exposures and do some more comparing. Generally, the ones I buy the same year are grouped together. By the end of it, my mind is spinning and I don't have the foggiest idea what looks good together (I'm still not sure). Thanks for confirming I must be doing something right. This year I ordered a number of light centered Hostas (like last year, lol). I'm thinking of grouping these 5 together: Hearts On Fire, Prime Meridian, Cherokee, Proud Peacock and Marshmallow Sky. It may seem counter intuitive, but I think they are different enough to complement each other without being distracting (I hope). It looks better than this (to me) in the tool, but you get the idea. Will it work? Stay tuned....See Morehosta_maker
