Office is a real difficult application to totally remove, even with a quality removal application like REVO. Take a look at your Add/Remove utility report and you will see all the existing entries. If the time comes you do decide to remove it be sure all your important files are backed up.

I believe the original application will not accept the key code as the code is not deicated to that installation.

I'm torn between removing the original application followe by a clean install of the new version, and attempting an over-write which I normally don't recommend. Perhaps a member will come soon with additional information to assist you or perhaps help me in drawing a conclusion to share with you.

Right now it is a coin flip.

There are two methods for activating Office; telephone and the Internet which is the easier of the two methods. To activate the product by using the Internet, follow these steps:

   3) Click "Submit" to send your information to the Microsoft licensing servers.

Thanks, both of you, for your advice. I did look up the photos of genuine Office software on Microsoft's web site. I think the software I received is probably okay, as it seems to have all the proper holograms, etc. But the product key label might be more if-fey, as the print on it is set up differently than on the genuine one in Microsoft's picture. On mine, the words productkey are run together, for example.

If you all think I should still try un-installing the trial version and installing the new one, let me know.

if you choose to remove the trial version I would do so by using REVO uninstaller it has done a good job of removing the trial version, it can be a pain to remove that trial and if you have parts left behind that could affect your install of the full version.

My last experience with using REVO set at Advanced and uninstalling a trial version of Office 2007 was shocking.

After REVO first ran the application's uninstaller as usual REVO looked for orphan files and then missed registry entries. I am NOT exaggerating when I say there were thousands of entries on the two reports. I want to share the combined total was something approaching 16,000 or more.

So be prepared.

I got a computer last year which had a trial version of MS Office on it. I bought a legitimate copy of the software at a much better price than it would have cost to buy the trial version. I thought the best thing to do was to uninstall the trial version, which I did with the standard Control Panel interface. Then I installed my new copy, entered the activation key, and it worked fine.

I too, just recently uninstalled the trial version and then installed a purchased version of Office 2007. It worked fine with no problems at all.

I have Office 07 basic with excell. MS was offering a trial of One Note which I downloaded and decided I'd never use it. I was never able to get rid of it. Its deactivated but keeps showing up when I open Office. Somehow it is ingrained into the Office suite and I can't uninstall it by itself.

Thanks, everybody. The E-bay seller wanted me to try uninstalling the trail version, and reinstalling the program from the disk too. So that's what I did.

Everything seemed to go okay except that, when I tried to open the new program for the first time, a little box with a message in Japanese jumped up on the screen. It gives the alternative of two buttons to push. But since I can't read the message, i don't know which one to choose. For the moment, I've just moved the little box down to a corner of the screen where it will out of the way.

Does anybody have a clue what this message could be? The first button has (L) after the Japanese characters, and the second one has (R).

I dont beleive the L and R mean anything more than left or right
Give this a try. Copy and paste the Japanese text into the box and select Japanese to English in the dropdown box.

Actually, I accidentally clicked on the box earlier, and found a translation for it. But even the translation was confusing, not being in the best of English! Something about the lack of Active X files not allowing the confirmation process to continue. That could be my fault, because my McAfee security program is always popping up warning me about something, and I usually tell it to block what it doesn't like. So I assume maybe it doesn't like Active X?

At any rate, the Office programs do seem to be working, but will this prevent me from getting updates on them?
