Didn't you have Internet Explorer before you downloaded whatever this is? If yes, I'm confused because I didn't think it was possible to have 2 IE browsers but I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time). I'm going to make a guess that you already had IE and that what you really did was install a Yahoo toolbar into IE. If that is correct, you should be able to find it in your Add/Remove programs and uninstall it. Before you do that, it would be a good idea to install a different browser (Firefox, Opera or Google Chrome) because if something should go wrong getting IE set up the way you want, you might be unable to fix it. You don't have to use the other browser if you prefer IE, but having one available in an emergency would be a big help if you ever need it.

my guess is you have IE with yahoo add ons which make it yahoo centered. You can go to your control panel add remove programs and remove all that extra yahoo stuff like the toolbar etc. IE is by Microsoft no one else makes IE period, there are add ons that can be added to it but if you have IE8 you have the Microsoft IE8.
Deleting the extra yahoo stuff will not affect your yahoo email at all you can still go to yahoo and sign into your yahoo mail account, you can do that from any pc anywhere.

I totally agree in downloading and installing firefox or an other browser so should that one stop working you still have a way to get online. I personally use firefox, it is super easy to do just go to the download site, choose to download the windows version, it will install, in the process it will ask if you want to import your settings from IE just say yes to all and it will set up firefox exactly as you have your Ie with all your bookmarks and home page etc. It will ask if you want to make it default you can say no that can be changed any time. Then once it is done and installed anytime you want to use firefox to go online just click on the firefox icon on your desktop or tray, you can go back and forth using IE and firefox and can even use both at the same time. Firefox has a lot of great add ons for it that I love.

Yes I had IE by Microsoft, version 7, I think. It was installed on the computer when I bought it. I thought I was updating that version to version 8. I didn't realize "provided by Yahoo" meant that it was a whole other IE. I think the MS version was deleted in the process or it told me to delete it. I can't remember. I still use Google as my homepage and I still only get the Google toolbar....no Yahoo toolbar. So are you suggesting that I download IE by MS from their website and then delete the Yahoo one? As you say..is it possible to have two IE on the same computer?

Thank you all for the information. I checked my add-on manager and all the Yahoo related add ons were disabled. y Apparantly I did it a yr ago. So maybe I don't really have all of the IE by Yahoo. It does say INTERNET EXPLORER BY YAHOO in the blue bar across the top of my pages though. Maybe I am worrying about nothing at all? Maybe any problems I have are not related to this issue.

It's still Microsoft version of Internet Explorer 8. There are not 2 separate browsers I can assure you. Yahoo just gives it that name. MSN can do it and AOL use to do it too.

IE either works to your satisfaction, or it doesn't. If it is working now, then leave well enough alone. If it is giving you problems, tell us what they are and we'll try to help. Still, I cannot overstate the importance of having a 2nd browser. You don't have to like it or use it if you prefer IE...but having one available just might save your bacon one day. Choose one (Firefox, Opera or Google Chrome)...and get it done.

Thanks, I think I'll just stop worrying about it and keep a better track of any issues I encounter. Maybe it is a whole other "ball of wax".
