NEW Bosch Dishwashers with Cutlery Rack
Comments (27)Yes, but if that "one" flooded your living room and dining room, both of which had expensive carpet installed 6 months earlier ... it would become a defining moment for you too, lascatx. The dish drawers have been flawless, but they do have a moisture alarm on the floor beneath them. The reason the flood happened? During the night a brain fart happened (in the dishwasher) and water kept filling and flooding out the dishwasher because there was no ability to electronically drain the water. So when DH went to the kitchen to make coffee the next morning, slosh! slosh! We were not happy campers, especially since that dishwasher was about a year old....See MoreAfter 2 bad dishwashers, need advice and help!
Comments (51)Thanks for the tip. I called the main number for Miele USA tomorrow and ask about the warranty. In the August 08 brochure, these are the differences it lists between the Diamante G2120SC and the Optima G2430SC, but it doesn't always explain what they are. Temperature settings: 5 Diamante, Vario Optima Economy cycle: Diamante China & Crystal: Optima Sound: Q2 Diamante, Q3 Optima Auto Sensor -Optima G2430SC additions ($1679): Removable Bottle Holder 24hr Delay Start Water Softener Detergent Options -Optima G2470SCSF additions ($1899): Hidden Controls Acoustic Function Monitor Optical Function Monitor When I saw the Optima and Diamante, both looked to have the same cutlery tray. I think only the Excelle and LaPerla had the cutlery tray in two removable sections. For Detergent we use the Cascade 2-in-1 Packs (powder) with Dawn. For that, would the Optima be set for Gel or 2-in-1? The manual says the 2-in-1 setting is if it has a rinse aid built into the packet. The Cascade 2-in-1 does not, so I guess the Gel setting would be the best one to use. As posted yesterday, the dishwasher would have to be connected to my Hot Water line. Because of that, it would be around 120F when it get to the unit. It could heat the water even hotter if needed, but I wonder if it would lower the temperature if needed. It looks like the Diamante has 5 pre-set temperature settings (it doesn't say what the are) and the Optima can adjust it to any. I'd have to think about the extra cost for the Optima, as a few of the features would be nice. It's still sounds a bit odd to me that you have to spend over $1679 for a Miele dishwasher just to get a Delay Start, when my GE from 2 years ago had it for $600, and my current Electrolux does at $1300. We like the look of the intergraded (SCSF), but its $200 more just for that. I'm not sure what the "Acoustic Function Monitor" and " Optical Function Monitor" are. I ask tomorrow when I call them to find out about the warranty. When I was at the Miele showroom last week, I brought some dishes, glasses, silverware, and a baking sheet to see how they would fit. The tallest glass that I had just cleared the cutlery rack when the middle rack was in the highest position. Lowering the middle rack gave the glass more room, but then the middle spray was closer to the dishes. We put some of the silverware in the cutlery tray, and it wasn't as difficult to use as my mom thought it would be....See MoreBosch SHE43P05 Dishwasher - good choice?
Comments (4)Because of energy star regulations food disposers in dishwashers are smaller and use less electricity but are not as effective as they used to be. Most dishwasher detergents have ditched phosphates and are enzyme based. This is what dishwashers like Bosch need. The enzymes break down the food. The reason Bosch dishwashers can smell bad is people use the half-load option on more than a half load or use eco-sense option on dishes that are dirtier than "lightly soiled." In other workd people are using too little water in order save money or be enviromentally conscious. Read the manual.Use correct detergent and cycles for the dishes you put into the dishwasher and you will be fine. Save for $1200 plus Mieles these Bosch dishwasers are your best option. They just require a litte effort on the part of the owner. Bosch dishwashers have won the top spot on Consumer Reports for several years now. And second place after Miele on JD Power rankings for two years and first place before that. BTW Next time research first, ask questions, then buy appliance. :)...See Moreneed to buy new dishwasher Kitchenaid vs Bosch
Comments (31)Old thread I know, but I did want to sadly, amend my above statement about my Whirlpool dw in case anyone is digging through old threads to decide which brand dw to buy. I did love my Whirlpool dw more than a person should love a dw, but now it is ready for the heap. It was the best dw I ever had and everything always did come out sparkling clean each cycle. But in the last year, I've had 4 or 5 (I've lost count) significant repairs, including a new motor a few months ago. It's current death knell is the new motor is dead. I am done having to wait weeks on end for the repair tech to come out, decide the problem, order the part, then wait weeks longer to make it onto his schedule to replace parts. The machine has been out of service as much as it was in service for a year now. Yesterday was my 5 year anniversary of taking delivery of the Whirlpool dw and here I am awaiting delivery of a Bosch dw, that I hope will have a better track record over time. I guess what I am saying is, I hope to get at least 5 trouble-free years out of the new dw. I'm disappointed as I loved this dw and I sorely miss it--been without it's service for nearly a month again. But, now I don't trust that repairs will last any length of time and if a new motor only has a few month life span, I'm not getting back on board with Whirlpool :-( I have no way of knowing if Whirlpool replacement parts are crud or if the repair tech being sent out by the warranty company is the dud. I'll never know at this point. I found this thread because delivery of new Bosch dw has been delayed another week and I wanted to use this grumpy time to do more research to make sure I didn't get myself into another unpleasant situation--this thread showed up on the search results. I'm sorry to report this news, but this thread has been a concern of mine for a year now since all the major problems started happening with my Whirlpool dw and didn't know where it could possibly be in the website here. I'm glad it showed up for my recent search so I could amend my statement. I'm sorry if my above comments led anyone to a troublesome path. Very much so....See Moregeomeg
