Opening email attachments

I use Firefox set as my default. I use outlook express for email. When I get an email with an attachment it only opens in MS Int Explorer. Ending up having the 2 (FF and IE) run at the same time seems to cause problems for my old laptop.

How can I change some settings to have things open in Firefox?

TIA for any helpful information. It would be great if it could be explained in dummy terms for me.

I can't find any information on this and with outlook so interconnected with IE I'm wondering if it is even possible at all, and if it is it would seem some setting within outlook on how to handle attachments..

Thanks I do know relative that uses Firefox and OE and the same emails will open in their FF. I have tried everything I can find in the OE. ?

In OutlookExpress... If you delete an email with an attachment, its gone, more or less. It goes into the deleted items, an email folder, and then its gone when that folder gets cleared, which depends on how your options are set. I believe Emply on program close for Outlook Express is the default. At least that's how mine is set.

A "recovery" (I'd use the word restore) is exactly that - erasing EVERYTHING and starting over. In other words, restoring the computer to the way it was when you opened the box. The tech should have made that clear to you and had you back-up important files. There IS a reason the printer driver download is hanging at the last % but for the life of me I can't remember what it is.

Me , too. I have received some that had the pictures in the body of the message along with the ''click-ons" in the attachment block. Don't know how that's done either. Irritating. Grady

eandhl, in Firefox, go to Tools and choose Applications. You should see a search box there. Type in "Mailto", without the quotes and it will show you if there is a default set for your e-mail.
