alanis spacing and brackets (not parenthesis) must be exact when putting in a command this must be done exactly pay attention to the spaces and the brackets, put your key in place of the one in these brackets. Notice the space between c / and between x (bracket msiexec /x (299CF645-48C7-4FA1-8BCD-5CE200CF180D) and clicking OK. ok for some reasons this stupid reply box is changing what I am typing you need to use brackets and it is showing up here as parenthesis but be sure the spacing is properly done. Thanks, Zep. Not only does the Family Tree program need NET framework "to take advantage of web enhancements offered," it needs it to actually be able to download the program! LOL I used your words "Setup Error framework 3.5 SP1" in a search engine and got better results than when I originally sought a resolution. Came across some thought-provoking ideas about this NET Framework business -- namely, it sounds like I'd have to download previous ones (2.0 and 3.0) before attempting to get 3.5. Auugh. Sounds like that would potentially lead to more issues that needed resolving. (One discussion said that the complete 3.5 framework takes 50-200 MB!) I did bookmark the excellent WindowsBBS site, as well as printed out the discussion "Unable to Install Microsoft, net framework 3.5 SP1." Honestly, at this point I need to decide if I should leave well enough, but pass on installing the Family Tree Maker program for awhile. Maybe enough other people have run into this situation and the manufacturers will come up with a comfortable solution. Thank you for taking the time to help. I do appreciate it. Same thing here. It was downloaded today and I can't find it anywhere either. I do have the SP3 blocker installed but when I just read that blocker again, it now says under Overview: Win XP SP3 (valid until May 19, 2009). MS update site also says it was reissued May 19, 2009. It installed even though I unchecked it when downloading other updates. Now it will install when I turn off computer unless I use the "click here to shut down without installing" option. I have an AMD processor and they had big problems with it. Can I do a system restore, since it hasn't installed at all yet? Anything else I could do? Raven, in a previous thread the OP claimed that he/she was using Windows XP and that this same computer did not have Internet Explorer on it. I was unable to get clarification on this point, nor was I able to find out if this same computer has been upgraded to Service Pack 3 or if it is receiving regular Windows Updates. I suspect that it has NOT been upgraded and is NOT receiving updates. I would love to be proven wrong on all these points if only the OP would provide the info. Perhaps you can get the OP to answer. If in fact it turns out that I am correct, then Raven I humbly submit that your laudable efforts to help the OP are being ignored in whole or in part. SP3 was released over 4 years ago, and if this computer doesn't have it and the updates that followed then the OP has left it wide open to numerous security flaws. Even if I am wrong about SP3 and the updates, I am not filled with confidence when I read that the OP got rid of funmoods by saying "Actually I have no problem with Funmoods, I deleted it from my control panel when it first popped up and haven't seen it since." This says to me that either the OP really has no idea what he/she is doing, or that the OP is totally unable/unwilling to communicate what he/she did do. I will read with interest how this comedy of errors continues to play out. I think the OP needs to do much more than just ask for help over the Internet.
