Opinions on bathroom colors

Hi everyone, before I can choose the materials, I need to decide on color. Here are images of the two bathroom renderings, the main and guest. I wonder if the gray will be too sad, and if the green is too much like an operating room. Please advise! grazie

The top rendering is beautiful, love the colors used. It looks warm and inviting, not remotely sad. I don't care for the green at all. Yes, operating room.

neonweb2, It is not backpainted - it's the color of the glass. The piece behind the stove is a separate piece bc it is made to handle the heat of the oven. There were all different colors to choose from. The guy who did it is a stained glass professional in the Philadelphia area -- I will try to go back and find his name for the name of the product. One of the pieces broke during delivery and they replaced it immediately. I could not be happier with it. It is so easy to clean. I think he used some type of epoxy (?) and then a clear caulk (which I've had to re-caulk once near the sink). My banana holder is metal and I do have to remind my kid not to slam it into the glass while pulling off a banana :) Here it is. I love the traditional dark vs. pale light -- can you tell that is a trend with me (e.g. my bathroom)? Looking back, I should have had the outlets put in under the cabinets (or glass plate covers) but that little detail is nothing I regret. In fact, doing that may have made it too modern-y. But seriously -- easiest backsplash ever. It will probably look dated over time but I don't care!

Sumod- The medicine cabinets are simple wood frames with a cabinet-grade plywood back that just sit in the stud cavity. Because of the dimensions, the front of the frame projects about 1"+ beyond the finished wall. The medicine cabinet doors are also plywood with veneered edges and they are attached to the frame with standard cabinet hinges (Euro hinges). The mirrors are just 1/4" plate glass ordered to size from a glass shop and held in place with mirror mastic and a metal strip at the bottom that you don't really see. The guy who did the cabinets just made the medicine cabinets as part of the job. I don't know about the door brand...we live in a large metro area that has lots of door shops and the doors are just solid core maple doors with the center cut out and a maple panel held in with molding. They're not stained; they simply have a couple coats of clear spray lacquer.

I'm not a pro at all, but I am an avid fan of the color gray, white subway tile, farmhouses, and your flooring choice. What about white for the grout? Anything else will highlight the tile pattern, which I think might compete with the floor. I would also use white paint or a very light color in order not to draw attention from the floor. What hardware finish do you have in the rest of the house? You could always use the same finish. If that is undecided, I think brass would look nice with the blue floor tile. Also, if the vanity has not been purchased, what about a wood vanity with a white porcelain top? That would add warmth.

I would paint the walls one of the lighter colors from your countertop, everything else, towels, shower curtain, white.

thanks, linelle, I like that one, too (even though my best friend says it looks like a restaurant!). I have to rethink the vanity as it is very expensive (they want 10,000 euro for both vanities, and nothing else).

I like the top photo over the bottom one, but feel the gray color is too bland looking.

I think the second picture is more about the fixtures, and not the color, that make it look clinical. In the spirit of what Mdln says, I've not seen a green OR either :)

There are no windows in either rendering. Without any source of natural light I would be inclined to go with a lighter color, or at least a couple of light walls/ceiling to brighten it up some.

They do look a bit institutional or if a builder did something generic to please the majority of customers. Something is missing ...

Where's the fun stuff? Towel bars with bright towels. Throw rugs in front of the sink and tub? Art on the walls? Soap dispensers? Kleenex boxes? Put some color in that room.

My MB is gray/black/white. Introducing a color (pick one) makes it pop from drab to fun. And the neat part is that I get to change the pop colors at will.

I like both of the pictures, but imo, you have to have just the right house to pull off a bathroom like that.

I'd pick the materials first. Trying to coordinate the undertones of tile/countertop/cabs to an existing paint color is the hard way to go about it!

I love the green. It is about the same color as my bathroom. I have white woodwork, white sinks, a skylight and plenty of light over the mirror. Also have white towels. You need plenty of light, either natural or artificial, or a combination of both in a small room with darker paint. My floor is lighter than the walls.

The 2nd photo, to me, is reminiscent of beach glass. I like it better than the first.
