I rarely go in JoAnne's here. There are two smaller ones less than half hour from me in different directions, but no fun really to shop in them like the Michaels I go to. And generally seems JoAnne's is higher on a lot. I never got to any place this week and am bummed about that. Can't tomorrow since I have to get the two girls ready for Sat. dog show. Probably come home unable to walk decently for days, maybe I can go shopping late next week. Sure wanted to get to Marshalls, Home Goods, etc. I need new left foot and rgt knee for Xmas. LOL.

Great deals Luvs! We don't have those kinds of great things at out TS, either that I get there too late for the good things! I love the glass pumpkin cause of all the things you can put into it. I don't go to JoAnns much here either, they are kind of a small store, and expensive! I love going to Michaels, I always leave with something!

Jenn, I have three TS in about a three mile radius of each other. The biggest one is my fav, but the other two often get some good things in. The mgr at the smallest one always puts the holiday things in a special display area. I really like that, makes it easy to see what's available. Let me tell you, there were lots and lots of those plastic pumpkin pails! LOL

I always look for craft/decorating books and have found some good ones from time to time. My last two trips I've found these notebooks with the project cards in them. They are those big 3 inch notebooks. I remember when I used to get offers in the mail to sign up for them. You then would get different sets of project cards until you filled your notebook up. These actually have some really cute ideas in them. The first one was only $1.98 and the one yesterday was $3.00 with 30% off of that, so fun to read even if I never make a single project out of it! LOL

I only started checking out the TS last year when I found the Garden Junk forum and wanted glass items to make those totems. Now I am hooked on checking them. Like a treasure hunt, sometimes I find nothing, but usually I find something I can sand and repaint, or glassware pieces I can use, or a picture/frame I really like.

Judith, the pumpkin jar is a nice heavy one, and it was only $1.48. Can't beat the price and after a good washing in the dishwasher, it is just like new! ;o)

(I do have to tell you that I hate the smell in the stores--does that make me a snob? LOL What's that smell from anyway? Surely people do not donate clothing without washing it first, so where does the odor come from? Inquiring minds wanna know!)

Okay Miss Luvs...and everyone else...I have a pumpkin jar like that...what are we going to do with them????? I've had it for years and the only thing I have ever done with it is use it for a cookie jar in the fall!!

You know Jaybird, all I could think of for the jar was to put some candy corn or those little candy pumpkin candies in it. As I think about it, I guess it could look cute with some fall greenery and some of those small gourds and pumpkins. Not sure.

Thanks Anj, the big book has lots of project cards in it, and some are pretty darn cute. Some I've seen before, but it is nice to have pics to remind me when I'm looking for an idea. These are all supposed to be 30 minutes or less. I think that might depend on who's doing it! LOL

There is a fruit and a vegetable pattern in the Chris Thornton book that I really liked. Thinking about using the patterns and painting them the One Stroke way. I'm sort of wanting to try my hand at something other than roses now. (Well, actually I have done pansies and filler flowers too.) ;o)

I have tons of ideas and even some greenery and stuff--now I just need to get going on putting some of it together for Fall decorating. I'm birdsitting for a friend, so my dining room table won't be "vacant" until the end of the month, but I could work on the buffet, end table, coffee table and window ledge--so no excuses, just need to DO IT! LOL

Hey Luvs, remember I found a pumpkin jar like yours too, at GW a few months ago. Love it. I was going to put colorful Fall popourri in mine or something like that. Not candy.
The only TS I go to regularly are two GW not too far from me, but I've never encountered any odors and they are clean and very well organized. I love them. Thanks to Garden Junk Forum, like you I became a GW junky. Didn't know they had such good stuff. LOL

I sat here last night and made a list of the areas I want to decorate and made some notes on stuff. I don't have a lot for Fall and won't buy much now, but will hit Michaels and Walmart for sales for next year for sure. Especially silk floral is what I want.

Karen, That's a good idea for the jars. Walmart and Homegoods both had really pretty potpourri that would look good in the jars. It had pretty shaped items in it. Homegoods also had little boxes of faux acorns and balls in fall colors--really pretty, sort of beaded looking.

There are just so many neat things out there--if only I could win the lottery! (Big sigh!) I love to look at all of it--so fun. (Of course, if you see that "special" item or a good "bargain", the temptation to buy is always there!)LOL

Karen, good idea to make a list--otherwise going shopping can be very dangerous for your pocketbook!

I bought a couple of pumpkins yesterday, a beaded one from Homegoods for $4.99 and a really pretty ceramic one from Ross for $5.99. (You will see them in pics later.)

There are so many neat things out there but I'm going to try to stop buying now. Need to dig out the Fall decorations that I already have and play with it to see if I need anything else. And I have a couple things I want to paint--like to do at least one or two painted things for each season.

You are also right about figuring out what you would like to add for next year then hitting the "after the holiday" sales.

Sure hope Judith is going to do her stacked plates--and maybe even a tablescape or vignette for us--she has collected lots of pretty things.

Actually I can't wait to see pics of what everyone does! That way I get to enjoy Fall decorating with just the click of the mouse! ;o)
