BlueStar RCS help?
Comments (32)Hi Nabq, I can understand what you are suffering through. I spoke to my local BS distributor; he informed me that all RCS now ship with 15k burners only; but if you purchase from a retailer and not Costco; you can also purchase a upgrade kit to upgrade it to 18k. I believe instead of getting the 18k burner; the newer RCS' come standard with convection fan. Although the distributor said this may only apply to our area as it really depends on what the distributor specifies when they order a batch. Maybe BS is differentiating the RCS and RNB lines more by deleting the 18k as standard equipment? Theplayer is correct; the newer RCS ranges don't have the slots in the kick plate and the Bluestar logo is etched instead of a pressed logo. The control panel is also different; one piece now. As dodge59 has said; the difference between the 18k and 15 btu burner is the amount of orifices for the flames. The 15k only has orifices on the level surfaces on the 'arms' of the star shape. Meanwhile the 18k burner has orifices on the beveled edges of the 'arms' of the star shape. A quick glance at the 18k burner and it looks kind of like the simmer burner because the orifices on the 'arms' are kind of hidden by the shadow on the beveled edges....See MoreBlueStar RCS Ranges for $1999 in Albuquerque
Comments (0)Hey New Mexico Gardenwebbers, Since there have been such impassioned BlueStar-related discussions here, I thought I'd post that Builder's Source Appliances in Albuquerque now has the 30" RCS series BlueStar gas ranges for $1999. I think that's the price many people have been very excited about getting the BlueStar for at the Canada Costcos, and these come with the higher power burner (18K or 22K, I'm not sure) already in place. They had some other pretty good deals in their closeout section, too, like a Viking Designer Series gas range for $2999. (I don't know if that's a particularly good model, but it seemed like a decent price for a Viking.) And they're set-up to do the free hood deal with Bertazzoni, although I think that promotion ends soon. I just helped my Mom get all new kitchen equipment there, and we worked with a salesman named Attilio di Paolo who was amazing. Really one of the most knowledgeable and low-key, no-pressure salesmen I've ever met. I'd strongly recommend making an appointment with him if you're contemplating a purchase at Builder's Source. Best, Nabq...See MoreReport on my new 48inch Blue Star
Comments (5)Hi Cassity, I won't lie, I was rather amazed myself! Breast read 175 and the thigh read 160 when we took it out. We cooked it at, I believe, 350 (if not, 325) after brining it for 3 days. It was totally perfect coming out. We did NOT stuff the bird, I never do. Makes it take forever. I just threw half a lemon, half an onion and thyme sprigs into the seasons cavity. Yes, the ovens hold heat extremely well. I am nothing but impressed with them. -Stooxie...See MoreFinally made a decision, bought a Blue Star RCS
Comments (5)Glad you made the decision to go with Blue Star! You’ll love the performance! The design is fabulous because of the overhang, the knobs stay clean and never get splattered. I don’t even need Bar Keepers friend because with just a wipe with a sponge it’s clean. I use a spray on it once in awhile. When we got our Bluestar I got in touch with Bluestar and they sent out a compliment broiler pan. It doesn’t come with the oven but if you call them they’ll send it to you within a couple of weeks. I have All Clad pots and pans that I have picked up here and there. I LOVE the carbon steel pans, and cast iron. I also have a couple of heavy aluminum pans from either Sam’s or Costco that come in a two pack and you can broil with that too. I use them for roasting veggies and then might use the broil for a couple of minutes. They do fine. That’s all you need. Good luck! You’ll love it!...See Morebasic_kim
