URGENT: Show me your stand up shower photos!

So the plumbing leak that was discovered in our master bathroom shower drain has also led to the discovery of cracked and damaged grout and tile, as well as a poorly installed plastic shower tub that creaks and cracks when you stand on it. Since the plastic shower tub is flexible, and is not installed over a concrete base of any sort to stabilize it (it's on top of plywood), it is at risk of causing the drain to come loose once again which will cause the shower to re-leak (this was the source of the leak in the first place).

We were planning on redoing the bathroom at some point in the future and hadn't really thought about what we want to do with it. We've decided we might as well tackle this project now, rather than later, so I wanted to get some ideas for what to do. Someone will be visiting to give us a quote in the next day or two.

Could you please share your finished showers (and budget, if you don't mind), inspiration pictures, or websites to get ideas that'd be FANTASTIC!!

Here's a Swanstone shower we DIY-ed, roughly $2500 for materials.

And here's a tiled shower we DIY-ed, material cost around $6000.

thanks, rebeccamom. The marble is Calacatta marble from AKDO. It held up pretty well although there were a few scratches from my kids tracking sand and a handful of etches on the floor. This was the main bath and only tub for a family of four -- my kids had a smaller bath with a shower but they are toddlers and never used the shower. For maintenance, we squeegeed the shower after every use which got old. I doubt I'd do marble again in a shower. Maybe white subway with marble in the niches or as accents, but not marble on the floor or walls of the shower. The wall color is BM Light Pewter. Ours is 4x7 with no door. The seat takes up 1' of that space. We lost the battle with the builder on the curbless entry. We very rarely have splash out issues even at the pony wall. A wheel chair can be pushed in for showering and then backed out. A handheld shower is a must for someone in a wheel chair or needing to sit on a bench/stool. My parents have an ADA compliant shower sized 5x6 with curbless entry and 4' wide doorway without a door. Splash out is not an issue for them either. Many people ask if its drafty or cold without a door and the answer is no. Basically when you have a curtain or door in place it blocks the flow of the hotter air caused by the hot water and keeps it in the enclosed space. When you then open the curtain/door you get cold because the air outside the enclosure is colder than the hot air inside the enclosure. When you don't have a door at all the entire room heats up vs just the showering enclosure, so there is no rapid temperature change experienced by your skin giving you that drafty/cold feeling. I like the plant there, but I don't think you really need anything else. To my eye, the clock balances out the plant. I originally thought a basket or pottery jug might work, but I think it would compete with the clock and risk looking cluttered. However, if you feel you need something else to personalize the space and add a pop of color, a long, low profile sign might work, probably propped up on a plate stand or something. I think I'd try to avoid anything tall enough to obscure the trim, though. Maybe cut out paper to get a visual on what size works, then find an etsy seller who does custom work if you don't find anything you like. Patches: Yes, very handy that the soap dispenser can put soap in either sink with this set up. However, it looks like you'd HAVE TO use the pulldown on the faucet to fill the big sink or fill a pot sitting in the big sink. The "reach" of the faucet spigot only comes to the top of the sink bridge. Is that a good thing? Doesn't look so handy from my photo view of this set up.

Weedy - I wanted to thank you for posting these photos whenever someone has a question that your baths can help answer.

We (as mentioned in some other thread and similar to this thread starter) have to do an unplanned tear out and rebuild of our master shower due to a cracked shower pan. Unfortunately this discovery came on the heels of a planned re-roof and re-paint of our home, so we're in budget mode.

I have a friend who used swanstone in her shower and was talking favorably about it, but I've been waffling because I wasn't sure if we should spend more and do something very nice tiles wise (though I'm tired of cleaning my existing tile shower I'll admit). After seeing your swanstone shower numerous time, and then in this particular comparison, I think I feel realy good about going that direction and getting the savings to boot.

Our shower is a "germ cave" as another poster put it, and I think if we open up the dropped ceiling, put in a halfwall instead having just the glass door, the shower will really be a great upgrade over what we have. We don't have a luxury vanity area at this point (and funds won't permit a remodel there yet). I think the swanstone shower will be great.

This is our shower (with demo just beginng). I think we'll do a half way on the left (you guys call it a pony wall I think) with glass above, a nice new glass door, and get rid of the dropped ceiling.
