The only thing I might say one way or the other is that maybe you can save some money on the refrigerator and buy a kitchenaid. The reason being that kitchenaid is the manufacturer of that particular thermador unit. So you'll sacrifice the shelving a tiny bit but get everything else you might want.

Everything else is good stuff especially the miele.

Thank you Joboxes! Does KitchenAid have built-in with panel ready doors? I looked on their website and only saw the colors along with stainless or satina. Could you suggest any other brands that would fit the bill?
I am looking for panel ready, built-in, and SxS with a pretty decent capacity of around 25 cu ft. I'd appreciate any input!

Mirelle- I bought a floor model of a wolf 48" with the grill. It still is in storage, but I can't wait to use it. I went with wolf because I heard so many good things about it in the threads about stoves. I hope it lives up to the reputation. Good luck with your appliances too! What are looking into?

you would be looking at a KSSO42QTX. The dispenser is a little bit different look but otherwise it's the same unit. The only other cheaper game in town is the GE Profile Unit which I'm not a big fan of. That's a model PSB42YGXSV. Again not a fan of that one because we've had a good number of issues with it, but it's a really good price for a built in with dispenser

I've been going back and forth with this.

There is actually a difference. The Thermador and Sub-zero have hidden hinges and fully integrate "flush" with your cabinetry. They are the only two I've found that do. The KA is not completely flush with your cabinetry...sticks out a bit on the sides.

But is it worth twice the price for this?? Decisions...decisions...

I have had the Thermador Freedom units for over 18 months, and like them alot....

Not sure if my model has the same #s, but I have a 42" built in Thermador w/ water and ice - I love it. I should have gotten panels on it but I didn't. I actually ordered the KA and went back and changed it the next day b/c I knew I would regret it if I didn't. It wasn't that much more than the KA but the finish is much nicer IMO. I love the interior and it's quiet as a mouse. Our kitchen is open to the family room and it's virtually silent. If only I could say the same for our dishwasher - I'm waiting for that to bite the dust.

Thank you for your input, I think I might just set out for the Thermador 42". It has everything that I want in it. I just wish I could have everything I want, cheaper. These decisions really can be rough, but all of you helping makes it a little easier. Now I'm looking for the best deals, any suggestions! Thanks again!:)

I have a comment on the Thermador Freedom line. I was seriously considering this as an alternative to Sub Zero. What struck me though was the open ends on the interior shelves. The shelves on the Thermador do not extend to the sides of the fridge, they are instead hooked up in the back. This gave the interior space a smaller useable space. I needed the size so I opted to stick with the Sub zero. Also, I am not fond of where thermador puts their ice maker (right smack dab in the middle)
**note I was looking at the all freezer--all fridge models. But the shelves are the same in all fridge or combo units

Just back from a trip to see my long time friend/appliance dealer. I have known this lady for 20 years and she's been right every time. First of all you can save about $400.00 & get a Jenn Air with higher CR ratings. Have you thought about that? Just trying to save you some $.

Mississippirose, Thank you,I was just checking out the Jenn air and only saw the 36" SxS, panel ready. Is there a 42" model built in panel ready? I really would love to save money, but I can't seem to find a frigde with all that I need and a price that would make me :)

Fori, I think I've been looking too long myself. When I go to the appliance stores I start telling the salespeople of all the good and bad I've learned from reading up on the appliances here, lol. But I still can't make up my mind!

Madnap, I looked at the Thermador SXS 42" and the KA counterpart, and did a side-by-side comparison. Features-wise they stack up pretty close (the Thermador has better looking shelving, probably better lighting) in terms of capacity, organization and looks. The only thing I don't know about is how the noise levels compare.
The almost $2K difference is price is too big to ignore. I'd rather put that into something else. I figure once I start using the fridge, I'm going to not even be able to see the shelves and the little differences.
I'm trying to get the best deal on the KA.
(I'm going for the non-dispenser, and panel ready model).

Madnap, do a search for Jenn-air 42" built in refrigerator.
They make many 42 inch models---There is even one for sale on Ebay. As I mentioned in another post, We have the 48' built in (no ice thru door) paid $4588 for it back in 2006. Love it, well lit, even the icemaker and chrisper compartments are lit. Quiet and trouble free since we bought it, (June of 2006)

Hey Gary, I looked online and you're right they do have a couple on ebay. I guess what it all comes down to is the best price I can find on any of these brands. They all sound like they are all brands which have satified everyone who mentioned them. All except that GE Profile, which I'll steer clear from. It's hard not getting caught up in the bells and whistles, but after all it is only a refrigerator. The extra money saved will help with the other appliances.Thanks!
