What do you think about these appliances
Comments (15)Madnap, I looked at the Thermador SXS 42" and the KA counterpart, and did a side-by-side comparison. Features-wise they stack up pretty close (the Thermador has better looking shelving, probably better lighting) in terms of capacity, organization and looks. The only thing I don't know about is how the noise levels compare. The almost $2K difference is price is too big to ignore. I'd rather put that into something else. I figure once I start using the fridge, I'm going to not even be able to see the shelves and the little differences. I'm trying to get the best deal on the KA. (I'm going for the non-dispenser, and panel ready model). Good Luck!...See MoreWhat do you think of a white sink with stainless appliances?

Comments (2)I have a similar set up. Induction is awesome, you will never, ever miss the time you spent cleaning you rprevious cooktop, and the control on induction is as good as gas. I have the 36" cooktop, CSO, and one of the MasterChef ovens because my husband was with me and he gets easily upsold ;-) PS The CSO is heavenly, just as great as everyone says....See MoreWhat do you think of my appliance layout?
Comments (11)DO NOT MOVE YOUR DW unless you move it to the island (I'm not a fan of that configuration either though - since no one can do dishes while someone's at the range). Otherwise, it can't be open while you're prepping (you can't clean up as you go, and no one can do dishes while the other cooks). My DW is to the left of my sink and I have no issues putting plates in with my left hand. I actually prefer it. However, my DW is ALSO in the prep path, as yours would be if you moved it, which makes it really CRAZY ANNOYING when I'm cooking and DH is doing the dishes. I can't get to the sink with it open. My DW is ALSO in a corner (which yours would be if you moved it), and that means I can't access any of the cabinets when it's open. My oils and vinegars are in my corner lazy susan, so that's also frustrating. In your case, you wouldn't be able to open your fridge. You would be ripping it all out and starting over after one week of that. Don't make your aisles less than 3.5' between the sink & island. Personally I wouldn't go less than 4 especially with a dishwasher door opening into the aisle. You have room to expand to the top so I would go that way instead. I would switch your range and fridge (put fridge in the corner). You don't want people coming into the working space of the kitchen to get stuff out of the fridge. If you have the capacity, I would also add a prep sink in your island. I would put your garbage pullout to open to the side so you can access it for prep and cleanup. That would require wide aisles, though, and a check that it doesn't conflict with the dishwasher door. Agree that 24" wide is too big but if it's opening to the side, that's how long it would need to be....See MoreRelated Professionals
