You'll find more information by searching posts here (using the search form at the bottom of the screen) for H4080BM and/or H4082BM, or Miele speed oven, etc.

There are two main differences in these models. The newer model adds a second (lower?) heating element; this makes it better for cooking pizza -- the crust is more browned.

The newer model also has a larger metal rack that no longer fits inside the glass tray, but uses the same grooves that the glass tray slides along. Because of the new metal rack, the manual says to remove the rack when using microwave (MW) solo mode in that model. [Leave the rack in while using any combination mode (MW plus baking, etc.) in either model.]

I'm not aware of differences between models in keeping these ovens clean, or in MW function (its fine and 1000W, but both models lack a MW sensor).

You might want to look at the Miele Chef speed oven -- I think it is 4042. It has similar functionality (but no probe or bottom heating element) to the Master Chef. It does not have the automatic programming. It has a dial and you select the mode you want and decide on time and temperature yourself. It is about $2000 instead of the $2900 for the Master Chef. I have the Chef and like it.

The microwave, though it lacks a sensor, is quite powerful. The device uses a rotating beam deflector that serves in much the same was as a turntable would in an ordinary microwave. The food heats very evenly using MW in the 4080.

Another possible bennie of getting the older model is that the 4080 allows you to keep the wire rack in place while using MW alone. The 4082 documentation advises removal of the rack for plain microwaving. This would be a pain to me.

One caution, no matter what the store tells you, get your warranty in writing from them. If the dealer is not an authorized seller, Miele has a propensity to not honor warranty claims. Just be sure that the machine will carry a warranty.

Sayde, I have been thinking about the Chef model. I do not mind choosing my own time and temperature. The meat probe and auto shutoff when the desired temperature is reached would be very nice, but probably not worth $900. What I am concerned about is how to work the microwave, and the local salespeople have not been able to answer my questions. Since only the 4082 has the Minute+ button, how do you set the microwave on the 4042 model? Do you have to go through multiple menu screens to set time and power level? The Advantium microwave was easy to use since I just hit the 30 second button, spun the dial to add more time, and hit start. How does it work on the 4042 Chef model?
