Can non-Bryant AC partner with Evolution furnace and thermostat?
Comments (8)The Heil coil and condenser may be matched, but it is not a match to the Bryant furnace. The SEER and EER ratings are given for a specific furnace, coil, and condenser. This is what is referred as a match system. You can verify these matches on the AHRI directory web site. The Heil/Bryant combination will likely have less performance. How much less is unknown. The Bryant furnace and thermostat use a communication channel which is unique to Carrier and Bryant. The network interface module translates the Bryant communication to a standard interface. What is the price difference between the Bryant and Heil equipment? Would you use the same contractor for either equipment?...See MoreDelta Monitor Pressure Balanced vs Temp Assure Thermostatic valves?
Comments (12)Yes, if the pressure balanced valve senses a drop in the cold water supply pressure, an internal valve moves to cut down the pressure of the hot water as well. Thus, the flow from both hot and cold are momentarily reduced together and the outgoing temp remains fairly constant. If the hot water pressure would suddenly drop, the opposite would occur. This balanced valve operation is quick, in a fraction of a second, and fairly inexpensive to implement. The thermostatic valve adjusts the outgoing water temperature via a slower changing sensing mechanism. Any change in water temperature has to soak into/out of the wax element in your drawing (it is likely inside a brass housing as well), so it takes many seconds for the heat to soak into/out of this element and effect a change in the balance of hot and cold water. This is much too slow a process to protect one from scalding from the flushing of a nearby toilet; with only a thermostatic valve present, the drop in cold water pressure & flow could cause a scalding event to occur. This thermostatic design is also a fair bit more expensive to produce which is why far fewer homeowners have them installed....See MoreWhat thermostat (thermostats) should I use?

Comments (10)To be honest I could never figure them out and found them very frustrating to use - it seemed like no matter what you did and which way you adjusted, the water temperature would always stay the same. My husband had the exact same issue (one of the few things he requested in this remodel is “no Euro shower”), and we are in our 30s and pretty tech savvy! I’m sure it’s different when you’re selecting your own and have a manual on hand, but we both saw no need to pay a premium for full thermostatic given our experience. Also he likes his showers boiling hot and I don’t, so the super precise temperature adjustment is not something that would benefit us as we’d be constantly switching. I think the setup that we chose is very easy and intuitive to use for both us and any future owners, fits our needs very well and doesn’t come at a significant price premium, so it seemed like the optimal choice in our case. Hopefully everything works out! This is the kind of setup we had issues with:...See Moreelphaba_gw
