Any new All-Gas 30 inch double oven Ranges on the Horizon?

I am still looking for a 30 inch All-Gas (Natural Gas)Range to replace my failed attempt to own a GE Cafe but so far cannot find anything. I like the "better" ranges--Capital, Blue Star, DCS, Electrolux and American, but none of their 30" ranges come with either a second oven or a warming drawer (I really, really liked this feature on the Cafe). I loved the look of the Cafe and need a range that is free-standing with the look of a slide-in (in other words--no or low back on the range). I cannot use a slide-in. It does not have to be self-cleaning and I could live with 4 burners instead of 5, but I would like all the burners to be able to go from really hot to a really low simmer. Does anyone know if there are any new products coming out that might be similar to the Cafe but better quality? Are any of the above mentioned brands considering adding a second oven or drawer to their 30 inch products? I would love to get a stove back in my kitchen, but if I know there is something worth waiting for, I would rather wait than settle for something that I am not quite happy with.

Hi dbk1964,
Would you advise at what temperature the cooling fan turns on ? (not the convection fan) My wife does her cooking at 350 or 375 degrees on regular bake. If that fan runs-she will take it out on me.

When I first got my GE Cafe in November, the cooling fan would turn on at 350 degrees and it did drive me nuts--it was about as loud as the exhaust fan above the stove. After GE installed a new circuit board in an attempt to correct problems with the covection bake, the fan didn't come on until the oven was hotter than 400 degrees. The loudness was still annoying but that was more acceptable to me since most of my cooking and baking would be under 400 degrees (pizza being a big exception). Although the cooling fan was annoying, it would not have given me reason to return the stove. Hope that answers your question. Unfortunately the convection baking issue never was able to be corrected and two subsequent Cafes had physical damage and were never installed so my experience is limited to that one range. Maybe others will be able to give you more info.

I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it.

We entertain a lot and cook every night. When we remodeled we replaced the 30" cooktop and double wall oven with a 30" dual fuel range and 30" 240V Advantium wall oven. You will have to learn sequencing with the Advatium for multiple dishes, especially if you are going to use the microwave. The oven needs to cool down some before using the MW. We got a great deal on a GE Monogram Pro DF range and all of them are working perfectly.

I can answer the BS oven door question. My 36" BS RCS was installed two days ago (haven't used it yet, hopefully this weekend). During the burn off of the oven (high temp is 450 F for an hour) I checked how hot the oven door got, as that has been a big issue noted on these boards. On my range, the SS part of the oven door did not get hot, just a bit warm. The glass on the oven door got hotter but not that hot. What did get quite hot were the sides/edges of the oven door. I could touch the side but not for long. Definitely quite hot. Not instant burn/scald though. There are vents (or look like vents) right there so it makes sense that those areas heat up a lot. Your kids would have to press their hands up against the 2" side of the door for several seconds for it to affect them negatively. More likely a kid running around will touch the front of the door and that is not a problem, on my range at least.

If your designer says you can fit a 48” range, then you can fit a 36” rangetop and 30” double wall ovens. Note I said *rangetop*, not range and not cooktop. You‘d get everything you need. A 36” wide rangetop will give you 6 burners, yet not need the enormous exhaust and upper wall space of a 48” range. (You’ll still need a good exhaust though, don’t overlook that whatever you do). You’d get your 2 ovens. And they won’t be cavernous 36” ovens that take a while to heat up. And you put your pots and pans in the deep drawers directly under the rangetop (see pic) for great convenience and efficient use of space. And you won’t have to bend down for that low range oven either. Win, win, win, win. Here comes that Thanksgiving turkey or that roast, imagine basting while standing straight. Here are some photos of rangetops in case you aren’t familiar. (P.S. your rangetop and separate double 30” wall ovens do not have to be the same brand.)

Just wondering...anybody yet seen or heard anything about the possibility of any new freestanding all-gas ranges with a double oven (or oven and warming drawer) coming out in the upper end appliance lines [must have controls in front and only a small backsplash (approx. 4 inches)]? Also, does anyone know of any appliance retailers in the central NJ area that have working appliances that someone could actually watch operate? Thanks!

there is a place called reno's appliance off rt.80 in north jersey they have a large selection. be aware that signature marketing is a large dist in the nj, pa area and they are horrible. i am a big fan of the american range.you can ck with reno's i know they had some operating models.

Thanks, John. I have been to Reno's but it didn't seem that their ranges were operational at the store I visited--but I will check back with them. The American was the range I actually went there to see because my local appliance store does not have it in their showroom. It's nice, and if it had a warming drawer, I would buy it in a heartbeat....but I am really hoping to find something of equal quality with a built in warming drawer or second oven.

Have you looked/checked the new electrolux models that recently came out??? I'm looking at an electric version, but IIRC they had gas versions but NOT dual versions???

go to ajmadison.com and search there...they seem to have info on all models... I started there to narrow my search and collect info prior to heading to the local appliance place... they link to all manufacturer manuals also....

I did a quick check.. electrolux has 4 all gas models, 1 ICON model, the other 3 are the 'new' models... 2 freestanding, 1 slide in... two with second oven in bottom, 1 freestanding with warming drawer instead...

Plumbly22...thank you...I had looked at the electrolux on-line at the advice of my appliance dealer, but the freestanding range has the controls on the back making it 47 inches high...that will hide part of my mural backsplash. One to two inches lower and I would have been fine! I cannot use a true slide-in because of the design of my counter. So for now....the search continues.
